ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assess and analyze member’s needs and concerns; provides consultative services to members regarding appropriate Credit Union products and services.
- Responsible for performing collections on delinquent accounts, with a strong focus on RK accounts, through multiple communication channels with multiple parties, including but not limited to; members, attorneys, vendors and other departments; managing specialized collection actions, including but not limited to; repossessions, foreclosures, bankruptcy, loss mitigation and workouts on all relevant accounts.
- Negotiates and approves settlement offers and Promises to Pay from members; Review and approve charge offs of RK loans and accounts.
- Performs analysis and creates reports to identify trends in collection and/or potentially fraudulent activity on RK related accounts, provides reports and other relevant information to management and above.
- Oversees the remarketing of residential and raw land OREO properties for the Credit Union. Ensures the properties are properly maintained while in OREO status, provides recommendations concerning the liquidation and disposition of OREO, negotiates contracts, coordinates the real estate appraisal process for these properties and others, generates monthly tracking reports and delivers these to management and executives at RFCU.
- Coordinates property inspections with contractors, locksmiths, tax offices and other third parties in order to protect RFCU collateral and keep the area safe.
- Coordinates monthly site visits to each OREO property in order to make sure there is no additional safety hazards that have occurred since previous visit and to make sure general maintenance is continuing to occur.
- Makes recommendations for and develops relationships with other third party vendors, including but not limited to, attorneys, auctioneers, environmental specialists, real estate brokers and inspectors.
- Ensures departmental compliance with policies, procedures and regulations regarding real estate risk; recommends changes to liquidation during OREO status, repossession process and deceased status accounts.
- Utilizes advanced knowledge of workout and loss mitigation options to provide choices and solutions to members with financial hardships; follow through to ensure member satisfaction.
- Promotes departmental compliance with policies, procedures and regulations regarding credit risk; Serves as a primary resource for other employees by mentoring, providing ongoing training and guidance and ensuring all changes in policies and procedures are communicated and understood.
- Makes recommendations regarding collections actions; recommends changes to collections and liquidation strategies.
- Complete projects and reports as requested. Perform specialized data entry to prepare a variety of standard materials, documents and reports; updates records and databases; completes and processes standard forms related to areas of responsibility.
- Updates, flags, close delinquent accounts and process payments; prepare and maintain a variety of reporting by processing the appropriate workflows and other secondary market investors.
- Interacts with other departments, attorneys and third party vendors to complete tasks, research and resolve issues. Responsible for preparing and reviewing internal and external documents pertaining to collection activities; including but not limited to, bankruptcy, deceased accounts, foreclosure, repossessions, and litigation.
- Assist members with short sales, Deeds in Lieu and settlement offers; review and submit recommendation to management.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
- 4 years collection experience in a Financial Institution, with at least 2 years of experience in loss mitigation, workouts, deceased accounts, bankruptcy, repossession, foreclosures and the re-marketing of OREOS and/or non-Real Estate collateral.
- 1 year Specialty Collection Representative experience.
- Knowledge of Fannie Mae servicing preferred
- Basic lending experience preferred
- Business Degree preferred
