LinQuest is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the LinQuest team in support of a Science and Engineering Technical Support contract for the United States Space Force (USSF). This is a full-time position requiring availability for on-site access to Los Angeles Space Force Base in El Segundo CA, and as needed remote work flexibility.

The Space Systems Command (SSC) Space Systems Integration Office (SSIO) Science & Engineering Technical Support team is looking for an energetic and innovative Senior Computer Scientist/Engineer to assist in data mining information from multiple DoD repositories. The candidate will query data from different repositories and create scripts that will automate data imports into a Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tool. The candidate will also create web-based dashboards that are tool agnostic, using repository data that has been vetted and incorporated into the technical baseline architecture. This team member will be responsible for the architectural design of the application and advancements as the tool evolves. We look for candidates that are team-oriented with excellent problem-solving skills, a high level of creativity, and the ability to continuously learn and apply new technologies. This candidate must be able to implement innovative solutions and demonstrate cutting edge capabilities and transition them into production.

As a Software Engineer, you will join a fast-paced agile team to create and integrate new algorithms, user interfaces, develop and integrate code in multiple languages, and ensure continuous improvement of the software and associated databases. Developers on this interdisciplinary team collaborate to deliver a complete System Enterprise Integration Model that meets both developmental and space acquisition needs and can expand as technology evolves. Engineers need to be able to communicate technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences as well as research new and innovative technologies to add to our tech stack. This position requires excellent communication skills and a teamwork mindset.

Tasking includes implementing full-stack solutions and researching and integrating modern technologies such as ASP.NET and React to interface with a containerized microservice architecture. Developers are responsible for developing features and ensuring that features remain stable by incorporating them into the CI/CD pipeline with Docker, Jenkins and other CI/CD tools. Developers are responsible for developing graphical user interfaces (GUIs) using JavaScript frameworks and libraries for configuration and data visualization; and creating application programming interfaces (APIs) to provide other applications access to the core simulation features. Developers provide support for the complete software development life cycle including design, integration, technical documentation, and testing.

Responsibilities

  • Provide experienced leadership and technical direction
  • Accountable for platform features, from prioritization to design and release
  • Leads the team in architectural design and development of the system
  • Perform software design and development in Python, C#, Java, JavaScript
  • Develop and configure project Continuous Integration and Delivery Pipelines
  • Design, develop, and deploy software systems within containers
  • Collaborate with systems engineers and subject matter experts to refine requirements
  • Provide support during the software development life cycle including design, integration, documentation, and testing
  • Coordinate with Product Owner to translate customer requirements into stories for development, test, and integration
  • Integrating with our diverse team of technical professionals to deliver solutions to our customers within an agile framework
  • Work well in a team-oriented collaborative multi-office environment
  • Works on problems/projects of diverse complexity and scope

Required Skills:

  • MBSE tools to include: CAMEO or Sparx EA using SysML and DoDAF
  • Analysis tool(s): MATLAB
  • Languages: Java, JavaScript, C++, Python (used for scripting and adding data to MBSE models)
    • SQL - to query repositories
    • REST API - to create connections between repositories
    • HTML - to create web-based dashboards
  • Background in web-design or dashboard design

Required Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline
  • 7+ Years of Experience in computer science
  • 4-6+ years of experience in CS within a DoD environment
  • Experience with Python, C++, Java, JavaScript
  • Experience with continuous integration process and tools
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience in diagramming complex architectures
  • US Citizenship and an active DoD SECRET and ability to obtain a DoD TOP SECRET with SCI eligibility Security Clearance are required for the position

Preferred Experience:

  • Master’s degree in software engineering, computer science, or related discipline
  • Experience working as a member of an agile software development team (e.g., Scrum, Kanban)
  • Experience developing modeling and simulation software
  • Experience developing micro-services
  • Experience with Matlab/Simulink, MySQL, shell scripting, UNIX/LINUX,GIT, SVN, RTC, REST, Docker
  • Experience with geospatial markup languages
  • Experience with secure application development practices
  • Experience using and interpreting the results of static code analysis tools
  • Experience with container deployment
  • Experience with AFSIM, Unity and Cesium

Compensation:

  • Starting salary ranges from $130,000 to $155,000 depending on relevant experience and qualifications.
