Job Summary
GentiBio is seeking a collaborative and motivated Senior Scientist/Principal Scientist to join our Research team in Cambridge, MA. The successful candidate will build our protein science/engineering capabilities and work cross-functionally to support early-stage to late programs on engineered T regulatory cells. This individual will leverage protein engineering to lead new target discovery for our pipelines. The candidate will be responsible for identifying and validating new targets for application in the autoimmune disease space in addition to interfacing with external vendors to manage multiple target campaigns. This role offers exposure to an organizational and company build, leadership, and an ample opportunity to be a high-impact trailblazer in the emerging field of regulatory T-cell therapy.
Responsibilities:
- Foster the culture of seeking and giving help, inclusion, authenticity, and fun
- Lead the design and execution of binder and TCR identification campaigns for target discovery
- Lead antibody/detection reagent generation campaigns for components of GentiBio products including antigen reagent generation
- Build strategy for efficient and robust processes for new target discovery
- Manage external vendors for target campaigns used in the development of programs
- Provide additional guidance on protein design and support cross-functional protein related needs
- Lead from the bench and manage a small team (1-2 direct reports)
- Contribute proactively to cross-functional activities across research groups and with other departments as needed
- Communicate and present scientific findings to scientific team and management
Qualifications and Education:
- PhD degree with 5+ years of experience (or BS/MS degree with 10+ years of experience) in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry with a background in protein engineering, biochemistry, biophysics, chemistry, chemical engineering, bioengineering or related discipline
- Experience with design of antibodies, chimeric antigen receptors, T cell receptors, or other single-domain binders
- Experience with process of antibody discovery campaign from immunization to lead selection and/or with display technologies
- Strong background in protein structure/function with hands-on expertise in antibody engineering/optimization and protein expression, purification and characterization (e.g. chromatography, SPR, etc.)
- Detail oriented, great organizational skills, self-motivated, critical thinker and comfortable working with highly technical projects and personnel
- Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, deliver conclusive results, and maintain clear and complete records of lab work
- Exceptional teamwork and communication skills with the ability to embrace change and multitask in a fast-growing environment
