Overview:
The Senior Respiratory Therapist position coordinates, administers and documents diagnostic and therapeutic services on inpatients and outpatients, pediatric through geriatric, to evaluate and/or treat the cardiopulmonary system. This person collaborates with various hospital personnel, medical staff, patients, and family members regarding treatment regimens and responses. He/She performs arterial blood gas specimen processing, testing, reporting, quality control, and maintenance of the blood gas machines. The incumbent conducts quality improvement monitoring, policy and procedure review, compiles statistical reports, and performs in-servicing and clerical duties. Supervises respiratory services on the day, evening and night shifts as directed. Provides direct patient care customary to staff therapists as required, including bedside and outpatient bronchoscopies.

The person in this position works under general supervision, is responsible for various shifts, may be subject to over 40 hours per week and/or callback as required, and may also be required to remain on campus immediately before, during, and after severe weather and/or disasters.
Qualifications:
- Must be a graduate of an approved school of respiratory care with successful completion of the registry process. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Two years (2) years previous experience in Respiratory Care
- Current Florida Respiratory Therapist is required. RRT is preferred.
- BLS through American Heart Association.
- NRP
- Broad knowledge of management supervision and personnel guidance techniques
- Complete knowledge of all types and techniques of administering inhalation gases and medications and remedial measures to relieve adverse developments.
- Level II background is required
