POSITION SUMMARY:
The Senior Program Director is responsible for Branch Operations. Supervision of all fields or gymnasiums in use by the YMCA during the time the space is occupied for YMCA Youth/Adult Sports including offsite facilities as required. Additionally, the senior program director is responsible for overseeing the operations of the branch including Maintenance and custodial departments, Aquatics departments, Membership and Fitness, and Gymnastic department. In addition, every position in the YMCA of Coastal Georgia, Inc. is responsible for upholding the Judeo-Christian principles that are central to our mission by modeling behaviors that exemplify the four pillars of character - caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Manage Youth and Adult Sports which include Soccer, Basketball, T-Ball, Flag Football, Adult Basketball, Pickleball, Volleyball, Martial Arts, and other programs as they are developed.
- Serve as Aquatics Director. Oversee all operations of the pool, aquatic programming, and staff.
- Manage and Direct the Gymnastics program. Plan for meets and supervision of coaches.
- Promote, administer and lead in the development and implementation of Youth/Adult Sports programs and services.
- May be required to serve as an official, referee or timekeeper as needed.
- Inspect and ensure all facility or equipment safety issues are resolved.
- Provide program participants with accurate league information as required.
- Supervising the Membership/Fitness Department and assuring acquisition and retention of membership, supervising the Membership Director.
- Assist in the overall retention and satisfaction of YMCA members through appropriate customer service.
- Assist in the annual campaign fundraising program for the YMCA.
- Maintain a positive and cheerful attitude with staff, peers and program participants.

The Senior Program Director is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of all departments. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees, planning, assigning, and direction work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

- Sound working knowledge of appropriate sports as determined by season including league rules and policies.
- Must have knowledge of Aquatics, Gymnastics, and branch operations.
- Ability to effectively communicate with parents and participant accurate program and sports information including rules and policies as set by the YMCA.
- Ability to foster positive staff, peers and program participants.
- Ability to supervise large groups of participants.
- Must be able to pass a criminal background check and obtain authorization to work with children under the Georgia Department of Labor and YMCA guidelines
Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university; or four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills:
Candidate must have the ability to read, analyze, and understand professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Candidate must have the ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Candidate must also have the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Mathematical Skills:
Candidate must have the ability to add and subtract five digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s 100’s. Candidate must also have the ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume and distance.
Reasoning Ability:
Candidate must have the ability to apply common sense understanding to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
1. CPR and First Aid required within 30 days of employment
2. Must be able to pass a criminal background check and obtain authorization to work with children under Georgia Department of Labor and YMCA guidelines.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme heat. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderately loud.
