At Space Ground Systems Support (SGSS), a Parsons owned company, you will be part of an innovative, forward-thinking team responsible for integrating new technologies such as Kubernetes with Neptune Software and you will be integral in helping our customer base use them as well supporting complex systems on multiple platforms (Openstack, Vsphere, RHV). You will be responsible for coordinating all platform tasks based on mission project needs and leading a team of 3+ platform engineers.Along with leadership tasks, you 'll contribute to process automation by identifying any ad-hoc manual processes and converting those to automation using existing automation platforms (salt/ansible/satellite/Jenkins)

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Coordinate all platform tasks based on mission project needs
• Team Lead of 3+ platform engineers
• Consult on platform issues/questions and offer recommendations
• Work in a team environment
• Occasional travel for site-specific activities

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

• A fundamental understanding of the software development lifecycle and the processes and tools utilized
• Practical experience authoring application deployment tools utilizing ansible/chef/puppet/terraform/packer or equivalent tools
• Demonstrated ability to lead a small team of engineers
• Expertise developing software on RedHat Enterprise Linux
• Applicants selected for this position will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or applicants who are eligible for security clearances
• Demonstrated history of teamwork and service skills
• Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly, verbally and in writing, to supported staff, management, and government customers.
• Understanding of all layers of software engineering and system architecture.
• Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science/Engineering or other relevant Engineering field from an accredited university or equivalent combination of formal education and experience
• 5-10 years of experience

PREFERRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

• Satellite Ground Systems, Ground System Operations, or Satellite Operations
• Writing scripts (examples: shell scripting, python, PERL, etc.)
• Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)
• Software configuration management tools (examples: git, BitBucket, Jira, etc.)
• Documenting test results for corrective actions
• Interacting with databases (examples: MySQL, MariaDB, MongoDB, Redis, etc.)
• Demonstrated experience developing and/or deploying to cloud / virtualization platforms including RHV, vSphere, OpenStack, Kubernetes etc.
