Job Title: Technical Assistant -Payroll/HR System
Position Function: The Technical Assistant is responsible for all functional/technical support of PeopleSoft Time & Labor and Payroll modules used for payroll production. The Technical Assistant works closely with the Director of Payroll and other staff members to coordinate services to support a timely and accurate payroll. The Technical Assistant is responsible for requests for information from internal and external sources.
Employee Punctuality and Appearance:
- In order for schools to operate effectively, employees are expected to perform all assigned duties and work all scheduled hours during each designated workday, unless the employee has received approved leave
- Any deviation from assigned hours must have prior approval from the employee’s supervisor or building administrator
- All employees are required to report to work dressed in a manner that reflects a positive image of USD 259 and is appropriate for their position
Additional Duties: Assists with additional duties as assigned by supervisor.
Equipment: This position may require the ability to use SMART boards and iPads in addition to basic office equipment such as computers, copiers, scanners, and fax machine. Must always comply with USD 259’s guidelines for equipment use.
Travel: Limited travel between schools and central offices may be required.

- Proficient knowledge of computers, data entry, 10-key, and other office equipment
- Proficient knowledge of computer software including PeopleSoft Human Resource systems; PeopleSoft Payroll systems; Microsoft Excel and Word
- Adequate knowledge of general accounting procedures
- Ability to perform a variety of tasks, changing assignments on short notice, perform under deadlines, and work in a calm efficient manner

Interrelations:
- Contact with personnel within the district and with customers and vendors
- Will be working under the direct supervision of the department supervisor in order to complete day to day tasks
- Will be working with a diverse population requiring the ability to handle all situations with tact and diplomacy
- Must understand and respond appropriately to customer needs and maintain a positive attitude with all customers and colleagues
- Expected to interact with all internal and external customers in a friendly, professional manner and provide quick, responsive customer service
Essential Performance Responsibilities:
- Provides necessary data queries and reports to sites, management and third parties
- Maintains understanding of all functional applications and impact to payroll process
- Reviews and tests all PeopleSoft updates, including tax updates, maintenance and upgrades
- Responsible for Time & Labor security setup
- Develops queries for internal Payroll use and for needs in other functional areas
- Functional project lead for Payroll with Payroll Manager
- Participate in special projects as requested by Administration
- Responsible for the set-up, maintenance, documentation, and testing of PeopleSoft system tables
- Assist with production payroll review and troubleshooting when necessary
- Provide annual audit information upon request
- Assists with interviews, training and other department support as needed
Qualification Profile:
- Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university with emphasis in information systems preferred or two to three years related experience and /or training
- Accounting knowledge required
