What success looks like:

Within the first six months the new Senior Payroll Accountant will process and manage all aspects of payroll and benefit accounting for the Heard Museum. This role partners with employees from all departments, directly engages with our benefit plan partners, and works very closely with the Human Resources Manager. Within the first twelve months, the Sr. Payroll Specialist should have significant and measurable contributions to the finance department including:

· Payroll management, reconciliation, accruals

· Benefit administration, invoicing, withholding, 401K, etc.

· Open communications with staff about benefits & payroll

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Payroll – 60%

· Responsible for payroll administration, verifying, processing, and sending communications around bi-weekly payroll

· Preparation of payroll journal entry and related general ledger reconciliations

· Ensuring that new employees are onboarded into the Paycom and Employee Navigator systems, completing the E-Verify procedures for all new employees

· Process all payroll changes regarding employees, including rate/title changes, terminations, etc. via the Paycom Personnel Action Form procedures

· Develops workflow to improve payroll and benefit operations and efficiencies and payroll accruals

Benefits – 25%

· Maintains and processes benefit deductions, verifies accuracy with benefit statements, provides general ledger coding, and ensures timely invoice payments

· Review benefits deductions to ensure alignment with Paycom, Employee Navigator, and benefit carrier portals

· Ensure employee benefit changes are completed accurately and are properly documented

Compliance and Reporting - 15%

· Assists the with various reporting and analysis

· Prepares required state and federal annual required employment and benefits reporting

· Have at least 5 years of accounting related to payroll and benefits, consolidating multiple payroll data sets

· Have a strong work ethic, loyal to your employer, and appreciate the dynamics of non-profit organizations

· An advanced user with Paycom, Employee Navigator, and Financial Edge NXTsoftware

· Possess superior skills to work independently, can multi-task, exhibit attention to detail

· Demonstrate a willingness to learn and will ask for assistance when difficulties arise, persevering to deliver solutions

· Proven ability to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing, in an informed and persuasive manner, to all levels of internal and external customers

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $60,000.00 per year
