By statute, the Clerk of the Circuit Court & Comptroller is Clerk of the Board of County Commissioners. The Board Meeting Specialist helps to fulfill this role by attending and recording the meetings of the Board of County Commissioners and their committees, as well as producing the official minutes as required by state statute.

Examples of Duties
Attends meetings of the Board of County Commissioners and County committees, occasionally off-site, to take roll call and document discussions, votes, and motions. Communicates with the County mayor or committee chairperson to obtain information necessary to produce an accurate record. These meetings are also recorded on video which allows the Clerk to rewatch the meeting they attended to ensure an accurate record is captured.

Ensures adherence to rules of procedure at all meetings.
Writes meeting minutes clearly and concisely using correct grammar, punctuation, and syntax; proofreads and edits minutes; maintains detailed notes and condenses minutes for inclusion into the official record of Palm Beach County.

Occasionally performs administrative tasks as needed, including updating internal procedures in accordance with all applicable governing authority and County policy as well as receiving, documenting, and routing public records and research requests.

Assists the Senior Board Meeting Specialist with performing tasks that are assigned to the Clerk of the Board as required by State statute.

Conducts and assists with the testing of new systems/technologies as needed.

Typical Qualifications
High school diploma (or GED) supplemented by four (4) years of recent and relevant (writing and/or editing) experience; some college-level course work preferred; or an equivalent combination of education training and experience.
