Lead the strategy, design and operations for the desktop virtualization environments across the 3000+ end users at Ciox. In effort to drive simplification and an optimized end user experience, the Senior Manager of the Virtual Desktop Infrastructure Operations is the primary interface and partner with the business unit leaders to understand and align architecture and redesign efforts to with business direction and strategy. You will own and drive a strong relationship with VMWare for activities ranging from assessments, roadmap planning and any escalated incident resolution, or enhancement design directly with VMWare and/or partners. The Senior Manager of the Virtual Desktop Infrastructure Operations team will interface with leaders and stakeholders across the IT portfolios, as well as deliver experience and solutions to drive business unit demands. The Senior Manager of the Virtual Desktop Infrastructure Operations requires a strong technical background, the ability to understand business needs, solve problems and build strong partnerships. The Senior Manager of the Virtual Desktop Infrastructure Operations is a fast paced, high visibility role that will shape the digital workplace for Ciox.

What you will do…
- Drive current state assessment of Ciox virtualization footprint and usage – (ie assess VMWare environment architecture, usage (user types, roles, purpose effectiveness), identify variation and areas where simplification/cleanup and/or environment optimization is need for performance and stability; Identify product/solutions gaps and areas for improvements and optimization based on industry best practices;
- Understand and plan for business growth, and increasing virtualization demands, develop strategy and roadmap in partnership with internal infrastructure and architecture teams, and vendor partners (VMWare) to deliver next generation architecture
- Operationalize support model for current footprint; drive the implementation of VMware Horizon management console and Horizon infrastructure features required for alerting, monitoring and metrics reporting.
- Partner with Ciox IT (infrastructure, security, application, etc teams) and Vendor IT/Software partners (VMWare, Dell etc) to identify and architect best practice solutions for the VDI environments.
- Define and manage ongoing technical and business evaluation process for new features, functions, including prioritization based on technical improvements and end user productivity.
- Define plan for adoption and rollout of prioritized features/functions not in use in partnership with business teams and end user councils.
- Drive and ensure operational excellence – including:
- Implement improved internal process to review and document all changes to system settings and configurations.
- Apply best practices patch testing. Scheduling, and management to support end user service levels
- Assess and define optimal support model necessary to meet the service level requirements of the organization; includes evaluation of outsourced support, and/or services mode
- Support vendor management practices –manage performance of contractual SLA’s for current vendors, provide budget planning for renewals, and perform ongoing cost tracking, in support of the software lifecycle and vendor management strategy
- Drive completion of projects and initiatives, follow through on execution of strategies and implementation timelines
- Define KPI’s, and provide monthly metrics on utilization and key metrics
- Partner with all support teams to drive a world class user experience.
- Front door process to design and implement solutions to meet CIOX’s business requirements.
What you need…
- A passion for continuous improvement and operational excellence mindset in building and integrating tools with the usability, business value and metrics in mind.
- Cross-functional change leadership experience; ensuring buy-in within the organization and from peer organizations to drive process change.
- Ability to engage people in the vision and demonstrate the meaning of the work for the bigger purpose.
- 10+ years of experience in a Technology role, leading teams, supporting medium to large enterprise platforms.
- Deep knowledge of IT systems and processes including legacy and new technology.
- A solid understanding of digital workplace (End-User Computing) technologies.
- A knack for negotiating and balancing stakeholders needs.
- Experience developing, documenting, and communicating strategy to senior leaders, peers and delivery teams
- Strong interpersonal and business partnership skills – experience assessing and designing for optimal end user experience and able to deliver message to different audiences accordingly
- Inherent supportive skills - ability to lead/support major incident processes, ability to mentor team members in advanced troubleshooting approaches and best practices
- Demonstrated ability to work in a matrixed environment, with ability to effectively manage vendors and consultant relationships and deliverables
- Technology and business vision, understanding the future technology trends and their business and revenue implications.
What makes you stand out…
- VDI experience in large enterprise deployments
- Exposure to PowerShell and/or Python
- Strong Windows background experience
- Bachelor’s degree in MIS or related information technology field
