Senior Linux & AIX Administrator
Job description
POSITION OBJECTIVE
Works under the general direction of the Manager, LINUX & AIX Services to ensure the functionality, stability, security, and expandability of the Authority’s AIX, HP-UX, and LINUX (Redhat) server environment which commensurate with the Authority’s goals and requirements.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Install, monitor and manage AIX, HP-UX, and Redhat LINUX server infrastructure.
2. Perform capacity planning and performance tuning through approved change management mechanisms.
Extensive knowledge of paging/swapping, inter-process communication, job scheduling, file system concepts like inode and superblock.
3. Ability to write detailed shell scripts.
4. Ability to perform debugging and modification of C programs.
5. Ability to perform security audits and protect the system against intrusion.
6. Extensive knowledge of architecture design.
7. Extensive knowledge of LUN resizing and migration.
8. Extensive knowledge of Virtual Server Environment, LPAR, DLPAR, and VPAR.
9. Working knowledge of Cisco MDS switches.
10. Resolve problems referred by user community.
11. Perform software and hardware upgrades.
12. Maintain accurate documentation.
13. Interface with other sections of the Integrated Technology Services Department to ensure proper operation of entire Authority computing infrastructure.
14. Independent problem solver and ability to accomplish projects and tasks with little guidance.

RESPONSIBILITY FOR RELATIONSHIPS:
Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with all employees of the Authority. Represent the Authority in a positive, professional, and confidential manner in all dealings with external agencies, contractors, and all other individuals. Maintain professional demeanor even in high stress emergency and weather situations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent working experience.
2. Must have a minimum of five (5) years of experience.
3. Demonstrated knowledge of AIX, HP-UX, and Redhat LINUX operating systems and complimentary products.
4. Working knowledge of LANs, WANs, networking principles and protocols.
5. Excellent oral and written skills.
6. Possess a valid New Jersey driver's license.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $73,250.00 - $113,246.00 per year
