If so, we have an exciting opportunity for a Senior HiL (Hardware In The Loop) Test Engineer to join our e-Mobility team focused on new product development and customer deployments in the global commercial vehicle market.

The Senior HiL (Hardware In The Loop) Test Engineer role is within the Test and Validation team located in the ConMet Technical Center in Vancouver, WA. This position will be responsible for the validation and development of integrated systems, consisting of test case development, test execution, reporting, and issue resolution. Validation work to be performed in testing laboratories, workshops, on the road, and at customer test locations. The role will interface and collaborate with Product Design Engineering, New Product Introduction, Functional Safety, and customers to ensure delivery of the company’s goals.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Development and testing of eMobility systems features, components, and integration, as well as validation of e-vehicle performance-based characteristics.
  • Plan, organize, and execute verification and validation activities related to electrical, electronic, mechanical, environmental, and hv safety for electric vehicles systems.
  • Reviewing software and controls requirements and preparing test scenarios.
  • Executing tests on software and controls usability.
  • Preparing reports on all aspects related to the software and controls testing carried out and reporting to the design team
  • Participate cross functionally with functional safety analysis, dFMEA, mFMEA for software and hardware architecture.
  • Support development of design verification plans and reports (DVP&R). Identify objectives and applicable standards, define test cases, and test procedures
  • Execute and document test results with conclusions and recommendations and present to engineering management.
  • Advise project engineers and managers of project scope, impacts, and timing as it relates to HiL validation efforts and activities for projects.
  • Provide engineering technical assistance inside and outside the department.
  • Improve the competitive market position by keeping abreast of the state-of-the-art developments in the truck industry and applying the new knowledge to testing of designs.
  • Generate and implement ideas to continuously improve the work environment, systems, tools, processes as well as product cost and quality

Required Qualifications

  • BS in Engineering. Ideal majors include Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, Computer, or another applicable engineering or technical field.
  • Minimum 5+ years of applicable Validation engineering work experience
  • Automotive and/or Electric Vehicle (EV) technologies experience
  • Experience leading technical projects
  • Experience with CAN Networks and electrical Test and Measurement equipment (i.e.: DMM, Oscilloscope)
  • Developing and executing test cases on eMobility related electrical and mechanical systems
  • Experience and ability to interpret component/feature specifications
  • Ability to lead electrical and power electronics integration testing for on-the-road vehicle testing.
  • Define and document formal development procedures and processes
  • Ability to interpret electrical circuits, comprehension of electrical transients and steady state properties.
  • Experience with troubleshooting DAQ systems and Loggers preferred.
  • Detailed knowledge of vehicle electrical and electronic systems, test instrumentation, data acquisition/analysis software and testing methodology.
  • Knowledge of embedded processor control logic, and ability to program controllers.
  • Experience with formal development of verification and validation testing.
  • Knowledge of high voltage battery management systems and Electric motors and drive specific design preferred
  • Working knowledge of test techniques and compatibility with various software programs
  • Experience in HIL simulations systems, dSpace, Typhoon, OPAL-RT or similar
  • Simulation and modeling
  • Experience with ISO 26262
  • Matlab/Simulink/StateFlow, Model based design, LabVIEW
