About the Role
We are looking for a Sr. Firmware Engineer solid experience across multiple generations of wearable and low power embedded device launches. You will be working closely with the Director of Devices to productize our innovation pipeline of next-generation devices. You will also support existing products and platforms and lead root cause analysis, investigations, and continuous improvement. In this role you will also support the development and implementation of firmware related processes including the Software Development Life Cycle (DLC), Verification and DevOps in alignment with our Quality Management System (QMS).
Job Responsibilities
- Develop embedded firmware to achieve high quality, efficient and scalable platform, and product for high tech medical grade wearable sensor in alignment with user needs.
- Implement embedded firmware design(s) in collaboration with firmware team, hardware, mobile and cloud teams, cross functionally and with external teams/partners across full technology stack.
- Drive functional excellence throughout the Software Design Life Cycle (SDLC) including Design, Development, Verification, Manufacturing transfer and Maintenance.
- Deliver high quality solutions efficiently through the use of unit test, static code analysis, test automation and DevSecOps best practices.
- Lead and support root cause analysis by leveraging data analysis, quality processes and statistical rigor.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent (Masters or Ph.D. helpful, but not required)
- 7+ years of embedded firmware development in C/C++ with multiple product launches
- Experience with embedded firmware development in highly regulated industry (e.g., Healthcare)
- Experience developing at multiple levels of abstraction including bare metal, HAL, core drivers, RTOS, application and interfacing with cloud/mobile in a resource limited architecture.
- Experience with Schematic/Firmware co-design, advanced power management (MCU, I/O, Power domain, duty cycling, DC/DC vs. LDOs), wireless technology (BLE & Wifi), battery & protection circuit design, SPI/I2C/USB device drivers, Design for test, etc.
Special Requirements
- Familiarity with battery operated architectures, MCUs, sensors and wireless communication protocols (TCP/IP, Wi-Fi, BLE, Cellular and TCP/IP) preferred.
- Familiarity with CI automated build tools and unit testing, utilizing modernized firmware development practices.
- Experience with Python and FreeRTOS preferred.
- Familiarity with configuration management tools, defect tracking tools, and peer reviews.
- Ability to read schematics and component data sheets, board bring up, basic understanding of digital circuits and interaction between firmware and electronics.
- Demonstrated ability using laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, power supplies, e-loads, and data acquisition systems.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, exercises independent judgement, and works well under pressure in a dynamic environment.
- Self-motivated, organized, efficient, and process oriented with a strong work ethic.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, both technical and non-technical.

Salary Range:Final compensation for this role is based on market rate, and will be determined by various factors such as education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the candidate, and alignment with market data and geographic location.
Work Location:Remote - We have engineers around the world, but our centers of gravity are in Silicon Valley, California and Colorado.
