Job Summary

The Senior Electrical Engineer is responsible for reviewing, developing, and managing the design for all electrical systems throughout the company’s facilities as well as supporting construction activities and the operation of existing electrical systems. Responsible for all levels of complexity in electrical engineering projects. Represents the department to resolve important questions and tasks. Requires the use of advanced techniques, the modification and extension of theories, precepts, and practices of own field and related sciences or disciplines, including practical field experience. Provides expert level technical information and engineering recommendations that assist with various projects and training purposes. This position will occasionally visit company locations to provide expertise for design reviews, construction meetings, operations support, due diligence and as needed for emergency responses. Consults supervisor or principal engineer concerning unusual problems and/or developments.

Key Accountabilities

A Senior Electrical Engineer will perform most of these duties at an advanced level

  • The Electrical Engineer is responsible for the review and management of the electrical design of all facilities including but not limited to:
    • Load Studies
    • Instrument Data Sheets
    • One Line Diagrams
    • Area Classification Drawings
    • Cause and Effect Matrix
    • Cable Schedules
  • Required to be proficient with Piping & Instrument Diagrams (P&IDs) and participate in design reviews including the Process Hazard Analysis.
  • Responsible for developing a comprehensive program in accordance with prudent industrial practices to ensure the safe, continuous, and reliable operation of all electrical infrastructure including transformers, switchgear, feeders, motors, and other ancillary equipment.
  • Develop and manage budgets and schedules for multiple midstream projects, assist other disciplines to achieve their goals and support management where required.
  • Participate in cost and schedule estimates, plan work in alignment with project schedule., monitor and report progress using ascribed system.
  • Drive innovative solutions to reduce cost and schedule.
  • Liaise and interact with other disciplines to ensure overall project goals are met and advise management of variations in a timely manner.
  • Ensure all deliverables are aligned with company and client procedures and standards.
  • Review and assess new technology, materials and equipment.
  • Frame engineering/operational problems and propose solutions.
  • Monitor and support engineering related activities as related to field construction projects.
  • Must be able to make sound engineering decisions under limited time constraints.
  • Provide technical support to operations staff as needed.
  • Prepare and present technical reports on projects.

Minimum Education & Experience Requirements

A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and a minimum of seven years of job related experience is required. Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license, and meet company-driving standards.


Other Qualifications

Preferred:

  • Gathering and transmission pipeline design and/or pipeline integrity management experience preferred.
  • Professional Engineer registration is desired.

Other Requirements:

  • Proficiency in computer applications applicable to specific work field/discipline including Excel, Word, Viso and Access database.
  • Ability to interpret models/drawings/schematics and other design documents.
  • Communicate effectively both orally and in writing with people at all levels both within and outside the company.
  • Effective in self-management of time with a demonstrated personal commitment to work.
  • Knowledge of design, installation and commissioning of gas pipeline system including gathering and transmission pipelines, gas/liquid separation, heating and flow/pressure regulation, measurement and odorization.
  • Knowledge of industry codes and standards including applicable Federal, State, and local regulations, laws, and codes, ASME Piping Codes, National Electric Code, CFR 192, DOT, and PHMSA rules and regulations.

Working Conditions

While performing the duties of this job, the employee works both in a business office setting and at a project site. In the course of working at the project site, the employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions, including cold/hot, wet and/or humid conditions, and may work near moving mechanical parts and/or machinery. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and vibration (see physical requirements above). The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate in the office, but may become loud at the project site.
