Job Description:

As Senior Director, Pre Sales Engineering, you are responsible for defining, building, and leading the Pre Sales Engineering team in alignment with the Sales leadership team. You will play a key role in guiding the direction of the overall area strategy to evolve with our customers’ needs and industry trends in order to maintain relevance in the marketplace.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Maintain alignment with post sales as well as area and regional sales leadership
  • Resource management, performance management, hiring, and mentorship for area with major focus on continuous improvement in people and process
  • Ensure all regions are constructed in a model that supports their local needs while mapping to the area and national initiatives
  • Work with the Area Practice Directors and National Strategy team to ensure all pre sales resources are getting properly trained and are aligned to a practice
  • Maintain a culture that insists on sharing resources throughout the area
  • Ensure all teams are continuously evolving to address our customers’ needs, ePlus’ needs and industry/market trends
  • Maintain strong alignment with area VP, Services for proper utilization of practice leads throughout the area and into all regions
  • Participate in annual review of compensation plans with area leadership in an effort to ensure compensation is driving the proper behavior for our customers and ePlus
  • Incorporate and maintain a consultative led sales approach that adds and/or shows value to our customers while driving towards successful business outcomes
  • Foster teamwork, collaboration and accountability both within the team managed and throughout the Pre Sales organization.
  • Build and/or maintain key manufacturer relationships in alignment with sales initiatives and the area portfolio strategy
  • Coordinates with Sales, Post Sales and Managed Services organizations as necessary to ensure a superior customer experience from pre-sales through day two support
  • Review and approve statements of work and level of effort as needed to ensure projects are positioned properly with realistic expectations
  • Participate in efforts to streamline process and encourage continuous improvement
  • Participate in area portfolio management with Sales and Post Sales
  • Coordinate applicable manufacturer training in team environments as well as individual plans throughout the area
  • Build and/or maintain reporting on teams to measure efficiency, effectiveness and profitability
  • Ensure all teams are educated on and understand ePlus core values and mission
  • Assist or lead sales activities such as events, campaigns, and speaking engagements
  • Lead technical teams in creation of customer stories, case studies, bundles, and packaged solutions
  • Follow ePlus’ performance review process to promote communication, provide useful feedback about job performance and contribute to an employee’s professional development

Job Knowledge/Skills:

  • Prior experience in a Pre Sales Manager or Director role is desired
  • Passion for identifying and solving business problems with technology is required
  • Must be a natural leader that has a passion for coaching and developing teams
  • Process oriented individual that understands the balance of process and flexibility in order to deliver differentiated services
  • Business understanding including costing, P&L management and pricing
  • Experience working across multiple departments/groups in a collaborative manner in a team environment
  • High motivated, customer facing, self-starter, high energy, passionate, healthy sense of urgency
  • Experience managing multiple teams simultaneously
  • Confidence in and experience in developing, training and evolving customer deliverables
  • Experience selling integrated solutions within the technology industry is required
  • Excellent verbal, written communication and presentation skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, specifically the ability to communicate and interact effectively with all staffing levels

Education and Experience:

  • 4-year College degree preferred
  • 10+ years of hands-on experience in IT
  • 5+ years' experience performing a Management role

Physical Requirements of Position:

Ability of finger dexterity to be used primarily to make small movements such as typing, picking up small objects or pinching fingers together. Movements frequently and regularly required using the wrists, hands and / or fingers. Speech ability must be at a level where one must convey detailed or important instructions or ideas accurately, loudly or quickly. Hearing ability must be at a level to hear average or normal conversations and receive ordinary information. Visual ability must be average with ordinary visual acuity necessary to prepare or inspect documents or products, or to operate machinery. Physical strength for sedentary work with sitting most of the time. May have to exert or lift up to 10 – 20 pounds of force occasionally.
