POSITION SUMMARY
The Senior Director of Nursing is responsible for providing leadership, oversight, evaluation, and direction of all nursing functions and activities in the Wheeler Health & Wellness Centers. The SD ensures adherence to safety policies/practices and the highest degree of quality of patient care. The SD collaborates with leadership and health center staff to provide innovative approaches to care, as well as continuity of care and comprehensive services. The SD also provides oversight to nursing staff in Congregate Care and the NWV School.

$10k sign on bonus available! Half paid upon start and half after one year.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS
Master’s degree in a healthcare related field. Must have 5 to 10 years of progressively responsible administrative and clinical experience with community health.

Credential(s) Required: Connecticut Registered Nurse (RN) Licensure

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Effectively manages nurse staffing levels at all Wheeler Health & Wellness sites.

Actively participates in training of nursing and medical assistant staff to maintain compliance with clinic policy and procedure, state and federal law and regulation and relevant accreditation standards with policies/practices and standards as well as designs and implements professional development plans/programs.

Responsible for the management and supervision of nursing and medical assistant staff.

Responsible for administration and monitoring of standards, policies, and procedures for areas of responsibility.

Oversees and infection control protocols working with Nurse Site Directors and site-based nursing staff.

Works collaboratively with Senior Directors of HCO to monitor and improve processes and outcomes of care and improve efficiency of nursing staff.

In collaboration with Senior Directors of HCO, ensures all direct reports are performing in a manner consistent with organizational expectations and goals.

Effectively executes all service and business goals based on defined center initiatives and strategic plans.

Works with Medical Director to ensure service quality and monitoring of all nursing clinical care outcomes.

Must be able to pass a respirator fit test at time of hire and on an annual basis.

Leads and participates on performance improvement teams.

Effectively and efficiently resolves any process or procedural issues to ensure optimal nursing performance and a high degree of patient satisfaction.

Continues to develop knowledge and understanding about the history, traditions, values, family systems, and artistic expression of groups served as well as uses appropriate methodological approaches, skills, and techniques that reflect an understanding of culture.

Demonstrates leadership by reinforcing positive behavior and promoting recognition through the use of effective employee evaluations, employee appreciation, effective hiring practices, and accountability.
