Fox Rent-A-Car (a division of Europcar Mobility Group) is a benchmark for low-cost leisure car rental in the United States and around the world. Our US market is growing rapidly, and expansion is on the horizon for 2022.

We are currently seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer. Under the general supervision of the Vice President of Infrastructure Technology, the Senior Cloud Architecture DevOps Engineer will lead, drive and implement highly scalable and complex solutions in a multi-cloud environment while understanding and implementing monitoring & security best practices. They will design & communicate workflows, run-books, and other support documents as needed to support production operations fully. They will also provide status updates to stakeholders and escalate issues when necessary. An ability to work independently and collaboratively is essential.

An ability to work independently and collaboratively is essential. This will be a hybrid position in either Los Angeles, CA, or Tulsa, OK. Initial expectations will be to work 40% on-site, which may be reduced over time. Occasional travel may be required.

You will:

  • Have experience operating in a DevOps environment
  • Design, implement and improve CI/CD practices
  • Work with security engineers to bake security into the CI/CD pipeline
  • Design, implement, and document Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
  • Build, configure, and deploy resources on AWS
  • Improve monitoring and alerting stacks
  • Build and maintain highly available systems
  • Lead and guide the team in identifying and implementing new technologies
  • Monitor and maintain the production servers with 99.999% uptime availability
  • Write custom shell scripts, etc. to monitor servers for any threats and add custom alerts
  • Present to management on a weekly or bi-weekly basis about server health checks
  • Review application performance monitoring tools to identify issues and provide fixes regularly
  • Utilize testing tools for analyzing and measuring the performance of different software services and products
  • Utilize server log management for identifying errors and work with the Product team to get them resolved
  • Abide with all SLAs for transaction processing speed (TPS) across our partners
  • Select the most appropriate resource classes to perform the necessary tasks (i.e., avoid over or under-provisioning)
  • Add & remove servers as needed to meet SLAs
  • Be comfortable with Linux system administration
  • Help developers integrate applications with DBs
  • Present and communicate the architecture in a visual form

Education Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

Qualifications/Experience:

  • Five years of relevant experience with the above duties (including internships & military experience).
  • Or three years of experience with multiple applicable certifications (e.g., AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, Kubernetes, Docker, Puppet, Terraform certificates, etc.) or higher education degrees (CS, MIS, IT, Cyber Security, etc.)
  • Insatiable curiosity to find out how things work and how to improve them

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with GCP
  • Experience integrating with Splunk
  • Experience utilizing GitHub
  • Working with Java-related products
  • Applying AWS CloudFormation and AWS OpsWorks
  • AWS CodeCommit and understand the array of options for enabling a Continuous Integration environment on AWS
  • Configuration Management experience such as Ansible, Chef, Puppet, or similar
  • Implement several common Continuous Deployment use cases using AWS technologies, including blue/green deployment and A/B testing
  • Experience utilizing the array of application deployment technologies available on AWS (including AWS CodeDeploy, AWS Opsworks, AWS Elastic Beanstalk, Amazon EC2 Container Service, and Amazon EC2 Container Registry), and decide which technology best fits a given scenario
  • Fine-tune the applications you deliver on AWS for high performance and use tools and technologies to monitor your application and environment for potential issues
  • Good understanding of Test Automation strategy
  • Able to build tools from scratch as needed

  • Must be able to work during regular working hours (9:00 a.m. 5:00 p.m.) in PST, MST, or CST
