Job Description
Performs duties under general supervision of the Senior Center Director. Responsible for planning, organization, and initiation of a diversified program arranging for supplies, setting up for and publicizing programming offered by the Senior Center participants.
Under the direction of the Director, plan and supervise all programming for the Center.
All programs, times and dates for scheduling will be approved by the Director before programs are scheduled.
Develop Senior Center monthly newsletter, plan activities with local businesses, write articles, create newsletter in Microsoft Publisher.
Implements and follows master plan for planned facilities development.
Promotes Senior Center through public relations and promotional methods to civic, volunteer and other community groups.
Trains and volunteers in executing programs.
Some overtime may be required, some evenings or weekends may be required for fundraisers or special events.
Ensures all activities and operations are carried out in compliance with local, state and federal regulations and laws pertaining to government municipal operations.
Coordinates with Alzheimer"s Association on training and certification for support groups.
Plans and participates in activities and classes for Senior Citizens and manages all programming for the Center.

Recruit sponsors for educational programs
Help center staff with phones, lunches, making bank deposits
Drives senior center bus for tours, trips and events
Responsible for coordinating or scheduling bus maintenance as needed, with shop
Organizes food boxes at Christmas
Coordinates fundraising events
Sets up tables and chairs for activities and events
May be required to clean spills and restrooms as needed
Does related work as required.

In the absence of the Center Director, the Assistant Director will serve as supervisor.
The Program Director will recruit volunteers for various programming and information presentations.
REQUIRED KNOWLDEGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Excellent verbal and written communications skills are a must.
Knowledge and ability to plan and develop programs on a community-wide basis.
Knowledge of equipment and supplies needed to operate a comprehensive program.
Ability to organize and direct programs that meet participants needs.
Ability to maintain effective working relationships with other staff and with participants.
Ability to keep routine records and make simple reports.
Ability to relate to the special problems of the elderly and maintain proper conduct.
The job requires travel throughout the city and on trips.
Ability to work a flexible schedule that includes evenings, nights, and weekend work is required for special events and fundraisers.
Work involves administrative duties and a wide latitude of recreational activities.
Occasional lifting and loading, especially when arranging and organizing activities.
Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquires.
Ability to express oneself clearly and concisely, orally and in writing.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts as necessary to complete office procedures.

Basic Minimum Qualification Requirements
EDUCATION - H.S. Diploma or G.E.D. is required.
Some college coursework is a plus. EXPERIENCE - A minimum of 2 years prior experience with event planning, working with senior citizens or community programs is required. Some experience in teaching or instructing activities required. Experience in working with other community agencies in coordination efforts is preferred. DRIVER'S LICENSE - Valid Tennessee Driver's License and clear driving record is required. COMPUTER SKILLS - Knowledge and prior experience with MS Office Suite Word, Publisher and Outlook are required. Physical Requirements
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud, noisy at times. The employee uses standard office equipment and works both in and out of an office environment. The job requires travel throughout the city or outside of the city for special events.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to talk or hear. The employee often uses hands and fingers to manipulate. Occasional work lifting and loading is required. Must be able to lift, push, pull or carry up to 50 lbs. It shall be the responsibility of the City of Lebanon Senior Citizen's Center Director to assess the type(s) of reasonable accommodations which may be necessary to allow the individual to perform the essential functions of this role and to provide such necessary reasonable accommodations to a qualified individual with a disability, provided that nothing herein shall be construed to require the provision of reasonable accommodations if doing so will impose an undue hardship on the employing agency or a direct threat to the safety of himself/herself or others.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.40 - $21.64 per hour
