We are looking for an experienced Chemical Process Engineer to assist in the engineering, design, and drafting of industrial equipment and processes to convert waste and biomass into electric power, fuels, and chemicals. The Senior Chemical Process Engineer will provide judgement and analysis for the design, development, and implementation of chemical and thermal processes and systems.

Job Description:
- Key contributor for engineering design and analysis of chemical and thermal processes, performing manual and computational calculations
- Resolves highly complex technical issues and conducts advanced research
- Specify equipment, identify suppliers, review quotes, and manage suppliers and schedules to ensure high-quality on-time installation
- Provide written communication to customers and co-workers for documents such as progress updates, process narratives for control of complex systems, operating procedures for start-up or normal operation of equipment, and assistance in writing government and commercial proposals
- Coordinates complex engineering projects from design to implementation
- Collaborate with and lead other engineers and technicians in the specification, test, and design of industrial equipment and development of corporate systems and safety procedures
- Support or lead project management to facilitate process implementation and promote successful project execution
- Provide project site activities such as plant check-out, commissioning and plant start-up support, and operation training
- Regularly perform duties safely; complete all required, basic safety training; and participate in process safety reviews
Essential qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree
- 7+ years of experience in hands-on engineering and/or process design of chemical processes and equipment
- Demonstrated skills in performing calculations for design and analysis of heat exchangers, mass and energy balance, chemical process and reactor equipment calculations (space time, reaction kinetics, equilibrium, residence time distribution, heterogeneous catalysis, specific surface area), pressure vessels and piping design, flow and head loss, process modeling of thermal systems and steam generating equipment, and process modeling of chemical conversion equipment
- Experience in developing Process Flow Diagrams, P&IDs, and control system architecture
- Excellent writing skills for such documents as process narratives, performance specifications, start-up, and operating procedures
- Solid understanding of standard fabrication processes for chemical process equipment and piping
- Detail oriented – capable of designing completely functional equipment and systems
- Analysis experience in such areas as fluid flow, heat transfer, and chemical reaction engineering
- Must be highly motivated, eager to learn, and committed to meeting our customers' needs
The successful candidate will also have these desired qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering
- Experience working in a chemical manufacturing plant and having field experience
- Experience working and communicating with controls system engineers and technicians
- Ability to lead new process development engineering projects
- Demonstrated ability in managing a team
- Experience with Aspen Plus process modeling software
- Experience in the process design and construction of large industrial equipment or facilities, such as an ethanol plant (dry mill or wet mill), petroleum refinery, chemical production facility, or steam power plant
- Experience with refractory lined vessels, high temperature equipment, fluid bed reactors, boilers, large support structures, tanks, pressure vessels, heat exchanger systems, piping, filters, bag houses and solid material handling equipment
- Ability to work well in a team environment and capable of leading teams
- Ability to multi-task, working with several engineers and designers on multiple projects
- Demonstrated initiative and drive to complete tasks well, and to anticipate and solve problems with little supervision
