Job Summary
Load Planner will be responsible for planning and execution of all daily outbound transportation needs, creating value through efficient modal and carrier decisions while eliminating undue transit cost and delays. Collaborates and partners with Carriers, Customers, and Warehouses to drive process continuous improvement around transportation-network and final mile flows.
Essential Job Responsibilities
- Manage and monitor new or pending orders and plan/optimize/tender/dispatch within consented time frame. (Both Collect & Prepay Shipments)
- Maintain and organize accurate data related to customer orders pending and in process
- Work across multiple systems to decipher route requirements and Update status or information into the systems (TMS, WMS, ERP)
- Coordinate with Sales, Order Management, Customers, Carriers, Drivers, and Warehouses to ensure maximum productivity, customer service, and on time pickup & delivery performance.
- Instruct carriers and supervise actions required to meet or exceed expectations.
- Track and maintain on time pickup and delivery performance of the carriers.
- Monitor load planning progress and proactively communicate to minimize potential service failures.
- Provide load exception investigation and reporting.
- Ability to communicate with various internal and external stakeholders to troubleshoot shipping issues and provide visibility (daily tracking log).
- Ability to develop and maintain professional relationship with Customers and Carriers.
- Understand how various routing decisions affect Key Performance Indicators.
- Assist Freight Audit Team or Finance Team to process freight invoices.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher (Preferably Supply Chain, Finance, Accounting, Economics)
- Extensive depth of knowledge of Transportation, Logistics, or Supply Chain
- 5+ years of relevant corporate work experience.
- Strong planning skills, for creating reports for business leaders
- Proficient, high-level skills in Microsoft Excel.
- Strong analytical skills, collaborative problem-solver, effective communications
- Organized, responsible, ability to work independently and as a part of a team
