About the Role:

*This is a 6 month contract role*


The video department produces thousands of videos per year. Our content ranges from original longform pieces to high-quality branded content for Dotdash Meredith’s advertisers, as well as editorial content for Dotdash Meredith brands including People, Travel and Leisure, InStyle, Shape, Food and Wine, Parents and Martha Stewart Living.

We are seeking an expert leader to guide and manage the Media Asset Management and Workflow Tools team. This position will be responsible for the strategy and day to day operations of the MAM system. This includes helping implement new MAM functionalities, working cross functionally to define and implement metadata taxonomy, as well as defining and improving workflow and supporting the cloud and on-premises infrastructure required to operate the systems. Understanding video acquisition and digital asset lifecycle is paramount to this position.

The successful candidate will have experience with Media Asset Management systems, building and maintaining AWS infrastructure, on-premises hardware and software, and maintaining both a cloud and on-prem post environment. They will also have experience leading cross-functional teams and projects at the enterprise level. This position will report to the Executive Director Workflow Tools and Technology.

About Your Contributions:

  • Define and lead all policies, procedures and workflows for the Media Asset Management (MAM) system and video asset lifecycle, from acquisition through ingest and archive, post-production, distribution and retention.
  • Impart deep subject matter understanding of video, audio, photo and project asset lifecycles.
  • Manage the deployment, training, and adoption of asset management and workflow systems, software, and enhanced features
  • Create best practices around metadata standards and all MAM workflow.
  • Manage and foster relationships with partners in editorial, product and video engineering, to train and support teams utilizing asset management tools.
  • Manage and grow the Media Asset Management Team.

About You:
  • You have achieved a degree in a related field.
  • 5-7 years engineering experience with asset management and cloud implementation experience. 2+ years managing direct reports
  • You have expert knowledge and understanding of Media Asset Management, cloud technology, and traditional on-prem IT systems including:

  • Asset Management: IPV, Signiant, Aspera, SGL/FlashNet, Storage DNA, Spectra Logic, and Metadata management and validation
  • Asset Lifecycle Management: MAM, SAN, DAM infrastructures
  • Cloud and IT: AWS, API integration, cost management, networking, security

Tools: Adobe Premiere and After Effects, DaVinci Resolve, ProTools

  • Deep understanding of rights management and administration.
  • A hunger to streamline processes through innovation.
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines, within a highly matrixed organization.
