How and Where We Work

Our team is remote across the US, Europe and S Am and working hours are between UTC and PST and we’re flexible to make sure we can meet with team members as needed. We’re responsible to make sure we get breaks, sleep and exercise to ensure you feel good and have the energy and focus required to work in a fast-growing startup! We use a lot of digital tools to collaborate and communicate.

The Team

We’re a close-knit startup team, and we’re all jointly responsible for the success of the business. We are also working to build a distributed-ownership company model (like a Teal organization) so we’re not too limited by our titles and recognize we have different areas of expertise and responsibilities. Core Responsibilities

In this role, you will be responsible for building Android Apps and possibly cross-platform apps in future. At Sensate, you'll get the opportunity to develop apps and features helping people reach a better, calmer, more centered state via our Sensate device or app. Development work is largely moving to Kotlin, and our roadmap includes AI and Sensor integration to deliver better and more customized sessions to the Sensate community. We work Kanban-style, moving to Scrumban, and typically ship a new release every 3 weeks/1 month. Here is the list of core responsibilities if you enjoy solving problems in a dynamic environment and love to influence business and technical leaders with your creative solutions.

• Architect and build Android apps and components

• Apply SW Development best practices

• Collaborate with other teams (product, design) to solve complex tech and product challenges

• Champion a delightful user experience

• Cherish and enhance the core culture of wellness and mindfulness for all

What We’re Looking For

• 6-8+ years of experience building and shipping native Android apps

• Strong knowledge of Kotlin

• Willingness to learn other languages or environments if required

• Deep knowledge of Android SDK, Linux internals

• Experience building for scalability, extensibility, and availability

• Experience with interfacing to a backend in an offline-first, secure, resilient way

• Working knowledge of Git, repositories and how to work together with other developers on the same codebase

• Good written and spoken English

Preferred Qualifications

• Strong expertise in controlling electronic devices/wearables via BLE

• Strong Kotlin expertise

• Strong Flutter/Dart expertise

• Resident in Lat/Am (Your colleagues cover timezones from Los Angeles to Eastern Europe, so LatAm allows you to directly contact them when needed at some time during your work day)

• Previous in companies with products leveraging AI

• BS or MS in Computer Science or equivalent
