Teck Alaska Incorporated, Red Dog Operations, one of the world’s largest producers of zinc concentrate, is recruiting for a Senior Advisor, Business Improvement & Intelligence.

Rotation schedule will be 2 weeks on-site, 2 weeks off-site

Reporting to the Lead, Business Improvement & Intelligence

Responsibilities:

• Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor the company’s safety and environmental rules and procedures
• Execute the Continuous Improvement (CI) process
• Support site departments by evaluating existing resources, conducting gap analyses, facilitating Idea Generation Sessions, advising on technological solutions, best practices or capital spending business cases
• Advise individuals and departments on the CI process to improve long term CI tool usage and deployment
• Define goals, objectives, and targets for CI initiatives and department processes
• Make recommendations site wide about allocation of resources and assign responsibilities to manage the ideas pipeline
• Identify action items, schedules, and milestones to create a workplan. Confirms results with staff and management; incorporate feedback
• Develop new business improvement ideas and coach idea owners though the continuous improvement process
• Engage and support idea owners, to ensure timely implementation of ideas
• Provide support for the measurement and review of Key Performance Indicators (KPI), cascaded though the organization
• Monitor progress of initiatives; update management regularly. (Using action tracker and KPI’s)
• Advise front line supervision in preparation and execution of Result Action Review
• Recommend business simplification opportunities and supports implementation
• Work directly with the various department leads to automate reporting and data integrations between various business systems
• Mentor others on a wide range of database and data analytics techniques
• Develop data solutions to business processes and improvements, to support their sustainment
• Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Bachelor Degree in Engineering, Science, Mathematics, or equivalent
• Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in a Business Improvement role, preferably with experience working in the mining industry with strong knowledge of mine, processing, or maintenance operations
• Experience using Business Improvement tools i.e. Root cause analysis, OEE, mistake proofing, DMAIC, & 5S is required
• Experience using Business Intelligence tools such as Power BI or similar
• Programming experience in at least one coding language
• Capable of maintaining a positive attitude when dealing with challenges, conflicting opinions and delayed timelines
• Strong facilitation skills to enable participative discussions and learning among department members

• Enthusiastic and driven by interacting with other teams
• Exceptional communication (both written and oral), organizational, and interpersonal skills
• High tolerance for ambiguity and rapidly changing environments

• Able to work with minimal supervision
• Ability to work in a team environment and work effectively across all levels of the business
• Advance knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office, Excel, and PowerPoint, applications
