Job Description

ENSCO, Inc. is seeking a Geophysical Data Analyst with direct experience in seismic, infrasonic, and hydroacoustic analysis of waveform data from local, regional, and teleseismic sources. The successful candidate must be able to understand seismo-acoustic waveform propagation and be able to apply it to conduct analysis of geophysical data. Demonstrated familiarity of digital signal processing techniques and in-depth knowledge of time series analysis expertise is required.

ENSCO's Mission Systems Group (MSG) provides innovative customized products and services vital to national safety and security. A primary focus area is the development of software systems for multipurpose geophysical and other data collection, processing, and analysis.

Qualifications Required (Skills)

  • BS degree in Geophysics, seismology, or equivalent in a related discipline. Applicants with equivalent direct military training are encouraged to apply
  • Minimum of 3 yrs related experience in the following:
    • Demonstrated experience in seismo-acoustic waveform analysis and experience using seismo-acoustic analysis software such as ARS (Analyst Review Station), Geotool/Seatools, SAC (Seismic Analysis Code).
    • Detailed understanding of local, regional, and teleseismic seismic phases.
    • Familiarity with digital signal processing including spectral analysis.
    • Observational ability to interpret time series waveform data, identify seismic, infrasonic, and hydroacoustic phases, distinguish signals from background noise.
  • A self-starter with excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience navigating within the Linux environment
  • Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Active TS clearance

Qualifications Desired

  • MS degree in Geophysics, seismology, or a related discipline; or equivalent.
  • Experience with signal detection algorithms, spectral analysis, and statistical analysis.
  • Desired computing skills include UNIX/Linux OS, C/Fortran/Python/Matlab scientific programming and scripting languages (e.g., Perl, R, Shell), database queries (e.g., SQL), and mapping software (e.g., GMT, ArcView).
  • An Active TS/SCI clearance
