Lead Security Specialist

Venesco LLC has an immediate opening for a Lead Security Specialist at the Navy Yard in Washington, DC. A Top Secret clearance is required. This position is currently 100% remote but candidates must be available as needed onsite and may be required to work onsite in future.

The key responsibilities for this position include:

• The Lead Security Specialist contractor supports the Personnel Security Appeals Board by drafting case appeal summaries from the Defense Office of Hearings and Appeals (DOHA) and direct appeals sent from the Department of Defense Consolidated Adjudication Facility (DoD CAF) to the PSAB.
• The Lead Security Specialist must be able analyze and understand personnel security clearance denial or revocation appeals, background investigations, DoD CAF decisions, DOHA recommendations, the 13 adjudicative guidelines, and other related information for the purpose of preparing a comprehensive summary (listing issues of concern and citing national security criteria and the ability to recognize what pertinent information is still needed) for the PSAB.
• The volume and complexity of the case files vary and must be completed by the set deadline. Cases involving financial considerations shall include a financial table which tracks all delinquent debts and their resolution.
• The Lead Security Specialist shall conduct the review of material for the purpose of preparing the case summaries for the PSAB to use in their decision making deliberations.

Required experience:

• Working knowledge of federal personnel security executive orders and guidelines
• Possess knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
• Superior communication skills -written, verbal and presentation
• Strong organizational, time management and interpersonal skills
• The ability to take ownership of assignments and successfully complete on time
• Top performer who consistently meets or exceeds goals
• Ability to handle activities with short turn-around times
• Enjoy working in a team environment
• Candidates must be US citizens
• Possess active Top Secret security clearance
• 5 years of experience in the personnel security field (personnel security background investigator/adjudicator)
• Knowledge of Personnel Security to include background investigations and adjudications
• Knowledge of Office of Personnel Management (OPM) background investigations
• Work remotely with the possibility of returning to the office

Pay: $60,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
