P/T Security Officer.

SUMMARY:
The part-time Security Officer provides event and facility related security services, as well as shipping and receiving services. In the absence of the Operations Manager, the Security Officer may receive instructions from the Director of Operations, General Manager, or Event Manager on duty.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (including, but not limited to):
  • Respond to all emergency situations.
  • Conduct investigations of all alleged violations of criminal law and company policy.
  • Inspect packages, locker rooms, etc. (for detection of and or prevention of violations of criminal law and company policy).
  • Prepare reports as directed by Security Manager or Director of Operations.
  • Patrol assigned facility locations; lock and unlock doors as required.
  • Monitor event activity areas as well as entrances and exits.
  • Observe facilities and equipment for needed maintenance and repairs; recognize and report damage and safety hazards.
  • Be aware of the location and use of emergency alarms and equipment; follow established procedures in case of fire, disorder or other emergency situation.
  • Control parking, pedestrian and vehicular traffic.
  • Observe general public; provide general information, directions and assistance to facility guests; report suspicious behavior to Security Base.
  • Maintain a high degree of visibility and professionalism; respond to various situations, issues and requests for assistance; prepare incident reports in accordance with departmental standards.
  • Assist emergency medical personnel by directing traffic, crowd control and securing needed equipment.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contracted in the course of work.
  • Provide excellent customer service assistance to internal and external clients.
NON ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required/assigned.
SPECIAL CHARACTERISTICS AND KNOWLEDGE:
  • Ability to work effectively in a service oriented environment subject to frequently changing priorities.
  • Knowledge of safe work practices.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Requires the ability to gather & interpret information and accurately complete required reporting procedures in a timely manner.
  • Requires good judgment and the ability to maintain confidentiality as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Position is an on call position with no minimum number of hours guaranteed. Work schedules are determined by event activity.
  • Must be able to work weekend/holiday hours.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must have two years of Security, Law Enforcement, Firefighter, EMS or Military experience.
  • St. Charles Security License is required or must be obtained upon hire.
  • Possession of or ability to obtain a valid driver's license.
  • Must be able to stand/walk for long periods of time and lift objects in excess of 50 lbs.

  • Intellectual/Social demands:
    • While performing duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to multi-task under time limits and with moderate to high pressure situations.
    • Position requires constant attention to details and accuracy of specified standards including: following simple to complex (more than 3 steps) instructions, and concentration which frequently extends beyond 30 minutes at a time.
    • Position also requires frequent use of interpersonal and communication skills with staff including following verbal, written or a diagram of instructions. Employee must be able to recognize and resolve conflicts in being able to openly communicate with all staff. This position requires employee to frequently work both independently and as part of a team for variety of tasks. The employee must be able to communicate clearly and concisely in the English language.
  • Physical demands:
    • While performing duties of this job, the employee frequently lifts and moves facility equipment, supplies and/or tools. Employee will constantly move about inside and outside various areas of the facility before/during/after events; position will require employee to frequently bend, stoop, or crouch in order to set-up, tear down or clean in various areas of the building and grounds.
    • Employee will occasionally be required to identify or match colors/tones of furniture, dance floor, carpet or other items as necessary. Employee will as needed operate various machines in cleaning and maintenance of building; employee will constantly communicate via radio and in-person with staff to exchange accurate information. Employee may frequently be required due to business demands and event operations to lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.
  • Work environment:
    • The duties of this position are performed primarily indoors and occasionally outdoors in the weather conditions prevalent at the time. The noise level in the work environment is usually minimal to moderate during non-event days and when not operating equipment and moderate to loud during event days when equipment is in operation.
