Job Summary
KBR’s National Security Technology business group (NTG) is seeking a dedicated Security Officer.
NTG Security Officers work with and communicate with a wide range of people including vendors, customers, executives, and staff. The Security Officer must have the ability to communicate with internal and external contacts, both orally and in writing, to seek or convey information and coordinate arrangements. The Security Officer must be comfortable functioning in a team-focused environment. The KBR NTG Security Officer is responsible for roles and responsibilities aligned with that of a Security Generalist. The Security Officer will report to the Director of Corporate Security.
Job Duties/Responsibilities
Typical security related duties and responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:
- Enforcing and monitoring security procedures; ensures compliance with all aspects of the government and company security policies and procedures related to: physical access to buildings, room, couriers, clearances, packages, documentation and debriefings
- May develop and implement security procedures in coordination with management personnel
- May conduct security briefings and maintain security education programs
- Investigates losses and security violations; may recommend corrective action
- Maintains liaison with outside agencies and keeps upper management informed of all security activities
- Ensures destruction of classified and company proprietary information in accordance with policies and procedures
- Assists in revision of procedures manuals
- Work performed in the area of security is performed in accordance to DSS (Defense Security Service), NSA (National Security Agency), and/or other applicable agencies which conduct regular security audits and/or investigations
- While there are no absolute certification requirements, individuals are expected to remain current in their knowledge of security via online training/other means offered through DSS or other industry recognized educational services, researching, and following current events related to security and /or through professional networking security groups
- Builds knowledge of Group, its processes and customers
- Solves a range of straightforward problems
- Analyzes possible solutions using standard procedures
- Receives a moderate level of guidance and direction
- No formal mentoring or advisory responsibilities; provides informal task guidance to new/less experienced team members
Basic Qualifications
- Typically requires a Bachelor's degree and 4 or more years of relevant experience
- Requires knowledge and experience in own discipline; still acquiring higher-level knowledge and skills
- Requires expanded conceptual knowledge in own discipline and broadens capabilities
- Understands key industry drivers; uses this understanding to accomplish own work
- Solves problems in straightforward situations; analyzes possible solutions using technical experience and judgment and precedents
- Impacts quality of own work and the work of others on the team; works within guidelines and policies
- Explains complex information to others in straightforward situations
- No formal supervisory responsibility
