Scanlon & Company, a law firm specializing in litigation, and in particular personal injury, located in downtown Akron is seeking a dynamic candidate to fill our Legal Assistant opening. The ideal candidate for this role will have a high attention to detail, a strong work ethic, and enjoy working in a small office environment. This role is primarily responsible for supporting two practicing attorneys and serving as the office “go-to” person. This position requires the employee to be in the office (there is no remote work option).

As a Legal Assistant, Here’s What You’ll Do:

· Manage the client intake process

· Maintain calendars and ensure that deadlines are met

· Request Medical Records

· Assist attorneys with administrative tasks

· Draft templates for letters, pleadings, motions, and discovery.

· Edit, format, and finalize MS Word documents.

· File documents in court.

· Assist with trial preparations

· Assist in the case settlement process/ negotiation of liens

The Successful Candidate Will Have:

· Previous experience as a Legal Assistant required (experience in the personal injury field preferred)

· Attention to detail a must

· Experience in gathering medical records, preparing for trial, negotiating liens

· Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal – must be able to type

· Proficient in grammar, spelling, and punctuation

· Experience with the Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel)

· An innate desire to both meet and exceed goals

· A self-directed nature and possess the ability to work independently

· The ability to prioritize tasks and anticipate changing needs
