Seasonal On Call Art Handler - Lincoln, MA

Position Summary:
The Trustees seek to hire on-call art handlers to assist with the installations at the deCordova Sculpture Park and Museum in Lincoln, MA and Fruitlands Museum, Harvard, MA.
On-call Art Handlers will have the opportunity to assist with the safe handling and installation of artworks in the museum buildings and deCordova outdoor sculpture park under the supervision of the Senior Preparator. This is an on-call position that may only work when exhibitions are changing. The Trustees present a dynamic art exhibition program consisting of four to six exhibitions a year across two museums sites, as well as rotations of new commissions and loans of outdoor sculpture.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Handling and moving art objects throughout museums and sculpture park.
Installing 2-D and 3-D artworks.
Preparing galleries for installation including patching walls and painting.
Packing/unpacking artworks.
Installing exhibition wall signage.
Qualifications
1+ years of experience working in museums or art galleries.
1+ years of art handling experience
Knowledge of installation techniques
Experience working with hand tools and power drills.
Knowledge of museum best practices and industry standards.
Careful and organized work habits.
Experience working on installations that include audio and visual equipment including projectors, speakers, monitors, and media players.
Experience with working on outdoor sculpture installations is a plus.
Willingness to work collaboratively and to adapt to the needs of complex exhibition schedules
Ability to work in physically demanding situations including standing for long hours, lifting 50+ lbs. and working on ladders.
