Position Summary:

We are seeking an outstanding scientist with a pioneering attitude to design and execute cell-based assays to test novel protein constructs against platform targets in cell-based systems. This individual will be among the first 10 employees to join a dynamic, rapidly growing, and highly collaborative team to change the future of protein therapeutics.

Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will work both independently and as part of a collaborative team to

• Design, plan, and execute mammalian biochemical, cell-based, and translational assays for assessing protein function (including, but not limited to, methods: fluorescence, absorbance, luminescence, FRET, etc.)
• Design and create cell lines where needed to implement novel cell-based assays
• Collaborate with protein engineering team to design, troubleshoot, and express protein constructs
• Scale-up and implement higher throughput assay formats
• Generate novel therapeutic hypotheses and proposals
• Manage external relationships with contract research organizations, which includes communicating efforts and progress to internal and external parties.
• Mentor and train research associates as needed

Key Qualifications:

• Ph.D. in Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Bioengineering, Synthetic Biology or related field with 1+ years of relevant post Ph.D. experience; industry experience preferred
• Experience with developing multiple cell assays leveraging biology and biochemistry expertise
• Strong handle of basic molecular biology techniques, including but not limited to, modern cloning techniques, PCR, Western Blot, transfection and/or transduction, and flow cytometry.
• A strong self-starter, company builder, with an entrepreneurial mindset
• Strong ability to analyze, scrutinize, and communicate complex data sets and science in a clear and concise manner through written or oral communications
• Instinctive team player with excellent interpersonal skills and great attention to detail
