We are seeking a Scientist to join our R&D department at our location in San Jose, CA. This role will own research projects and work collaboratively with members of Technology Development within R&D. The primary responsibilities will include laboratory research duties and oral and written presentations. Previous product development experience from a relevant industry is strongly preferred.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

• Perform research including (75%):
• Operate chromatography columns, analyze data and report results.
• Grow and manipulate biological cell cultures.
• Operate all molecular biological tools including centrifuge, nanodrop spectrometer, gel electrophoresis, PCR, etc.

• Interface with electrical and mechanical engineering personnel (10%)
• Interface with Biological R&D personnel (10%)
• Interface with manufacturing personnel (5%)

Qualifications and Training:

• Hands-on laboratory experience through industry experience or graduate thesis research is required
• Familiarity with buffer components used in life science research
• Ability to manage multiple projects
• Ability to mentor Research Associates
• Ability to perform literature research
• Master’s degree in natural science with 5+ years of experience or PhD with 0-3 years of experience
• Excellent communication skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
• Current or previous product development experience
