Scientific Diversity Outreach Specialist
Position Description:
The incumbent shall serve as the primary outreach coordinator for CCR’s diversity efforts and duties will include:
- Plan, implement and evaluate a variety of recruitment strategies including:
- outreach at scientific conferences,
- developing and nurturing relationships with local Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and other Minority Serving Institutions (MSI),
- giving presentations to a variety of academic and stakeholder groups,
- contributing to CCR’s communication initiatives and social media strategies,
- tracking and analyzing a wide range of metrics to measure success,
- develop and plan new initiatives to identify diverse candidates and further organizational culture,
- coordinate CCR diversity programs, such as workshops, and affinity groups, and
- foster collaborative efforts with existing NCI training programs to help strengthen the pipeline of biomedical researchers from historically underrepresented groups
- Competitive salary based on experience equivalent to the GS-11 to 12 range
This is a permanent position. Hiring mechanism will be determined based on candidate qualifications and experience.
Full time, with telework options and some on-site work required in Bethesda, Maryland.
Travel required.
Reports to the CCR Scientific Diversity Advisor.
Qualifications:
DEGREE REQUIRED:
- Masters; PhD Preferred
APPOINTMENT TYPE:
- Government Position (Salary commensurate with experience)
- Contractor Position (Salary commensurate with experience)

CITIZENSHIP:
- US Citizenship required
REQUIRED SKILLS:
- Graduate degree in biomedical research;
- Strong interpersonal, time management and organizational skills;
- A demonstrated commitment to DEIA;
- Excellent oral and written communication;
- Ability to use databases and software for reporting and analysis;
- Some experience in a laboratory or clinical setting.
