POSITION: School Treasurer Trainer

TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: 12 Months

REPORTS TO: Director of Finance

OVERVIEW: Johnston County Schools is a rapidly growing public school district located southeast of Raleigh. We educate over 38,000 students at 48 schools with an annual budget that exceeds $380M. We seek a highly motivated individual to join our Finance Department as a School Treasurer Trainer.

The School Treasurer Trainer will be expected to complete the NCASBO Treasurer Academy.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Train all newly hired school treasurers on all financial policies, procedures, and softwares. Training will consist of on-site and virtual sessions.
• Assist all school treasurers on a daily basis.
• Serve as the primary point of contact/liaison between school treasurers and the central finance department.
• Meet with principals to maintain a transition plan during any treasurer vacancy.
• Conduct school financial monitoring review during any principal or treasurer transition and after the training period for new school treasurers.
• Conduct follow-up financial monitoring reviews for any school that indicated issues on a previous review to ensure resolution.
• Fill in as school treasurer at any school with a treasurer vacancy or extended absence. (This could consist of multiple schools simultaneously.)
• Conduct monthly google meets with school treasurers and central based secretaries.
• Participate in quarterly face-to-face treasurer meetings.
• Conduct monthly desk reviews of all school based transactions to analyze assistance needed.
• Primary point of contact for setting up all school and district online payment fees.
• Maintain supply inventory/requests and process requisitions for all finance department orders.
• Serve as Simpson Building Receptionist backup for finance department timeframes.
• Make all central level cash deposits.
• Assist with school year-end closeout.
• Assist with annual year-end school financial monitoring reviews.
• Assist with internal and external reporting as needed.
• Cross train with other staff as needed.
• Assist with special projects as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.

ACCEPTABLE KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

• Five (5) years experience in a finance related field (accounts payable, accounts receivable, budget, and payroll).
• Experience in finance training and presentations.
• School treasurer or school district finance department experience preferred.
• Associates Degree, or equivalent, with some coursework completed in accounting is preferred.
• Experience with LINQ, SchoolFunds and/or Cook Spreadsheets a plus.
• Intermediate knowledge of Excel, including basic formulas and pivot tables.
• Excellent communication skills.

• Annual Pay range of $2,820 to $3,672 per month depending upon relevant experience and education
