Department Summary
The Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships is responsible for managing the awarding, distribution, reporting, and reconciling of over $280,000,000 in student financial aid for the University of Colorado Denver Campus. Combined enrollment at both locations is approximately 20,000 students. The Scholarship System Coordinator is a full-time position that reports to the Associate Director for Scholarships with a dotted line to the Manager of Information Technology Systems in the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships.
The Scholarship System Coordinator oversees the operational elements of scholarship application, selection, and administration, including all technical elements of posting scholarship awards to student accounts.
Examples of Work Performed
- Contributes to the daily operations of the institution’s scholarship management software, Scholarship Universe. This includes maintenance, utilization, and integration for the scholarship unit.
- Ensure scholarship awards are paid to students in a timely manner, via batch and other processes.
- Takes direction from the Manager of Information Technology systems and the systems team to integrate the document imaging system (On Base) with scholarship management processes.
- Maintains a thorough and current working knowledge of all scholarship program criteria, federal Title IV, State of Colorado, and institutional rules, regulations, and procedures to ensure the accurate release of information and program compliance.
- Provides input to the Associate Director for Scholarships on standardization of scholarship management policy and procedures. Ensures systems are set up to support established policies and procedures.
- Supports the Associate Director in establishing positive relationships with students, donors, campus, and CU system stakeholders.
- Works in tandem with the Coordinator for Fiscal Management and Reporting to establish, maintain and monitor scholarship funds to ensure accurate accounting.
- May supervise 1-2 student employees, consistent with the academic calendar and resource availability.
Salary and Benefits:
The hiring range (or salary range) for this position has been established at $52,790 - $56,007 and is commensurate with skills and experience.
The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty, and training.
The above salary range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
FLSA Status: Not eligible for overtime (exempt).

Minimum Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree in education, psychology, business, public administration, health care, educational technology, social science, liberal arts, communications, accounting, finance, library science, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.
- Two or more years of experience in financial aid, admissions, scholarships, and/or student affairs office in a higher education environment, and/or working with systems and software supporting student success at the college level.
Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree on a year-for-year basis.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience working with scholarship management software such as Scholarship Universe or Scholarship Manager or Academic Works.
- Prior experience working in an integrated student information system such as PeopleSoft or Banner.
- Experience collaborating with university faculty and academic administrators.

- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.
