POSITION SUMMARY:
The Sales Floor Manager supervises up to 100 part-time and seasonal employees. Assists General Manager with the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of units. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; assigning, and directing work, appraising performances; rewarding, coaching, and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
- Supervises operations staff, which includes hiring, terminating, and disciplining of employees, setting work priorities, conducting staff meetings, and coordinating training, evaluating performance and directing work assignments to ensure effective operations.
- Assists in the supervision and support of bookstore programs, promotional activities, and events.
- Assists in the implementation of operational plans to achieve profit and growth goals. Monitors unit expenditures.
- Approves sales adjustment problems, refunds, and checks.
- Responsible for consistently using Kronos for scheduling, timekeeping and running of payroll reports.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Required Education, Training and Experience:
- Associates degree or trade/vocational school with a focus in retail management; plus at least three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Must be computer literate with knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Strong communication, interpersonal skills, and organizational skills are required.
Other Required Skills and Abilities:
- Requires the ability to calculate figures and amounts such as probability and statistical inference.
- Requires the ability to prepare and analyze numerical figures, create, and interpret spreadsheets.
- Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
- Must be able to read and interpret financial data.
- Must be able to pass a background check that will include, at minimum, verification of education and employment histories, criminal records, national sex offender registry check, and references. Additionally, based on the nature and scope of the position, the background check may also include a credit report, motor vehicle report, and verification of professional licenses
