SUMMARY

The Sales Development Manager will partner very closely with the salesforce by providing technical product support for all commercial roofing products (Asphaltic). The duties of this position consist of supporting the sales team in positioning various products in such a way as to ultimately generate new business from potential customers. This individual will use their understanding of the product and knowledge of the market (consumers, customers, and competitors) to provide the product management team with insight to develop the go-to-market strategy. They will also communicate the “why,” “what,” and “when” of their product portfolio to customers, consumers, and internal teams.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Seek customer feedback on their challenges and opportunities.
  • Serve as a product expert for sales colleagues, tracking metrics and reporting on any shifts in the market.
  • Understand how products will resonate with customers by mapping out each step of the customer journey.
  • Consult with Product Marketing to develop the go-to-market roadmap, and ensure clear messaging by deciphering which attributes and unique characteristics of the product line are most important to the communication.
  • Translate technical details in a way that resonates with customers.
  • Collaborate with the Product Marketing team to hone key messaging and develop product-specific marketing tools (printed materials, sample & display programs, website, presentation tools, showroom displays, custom sample & display requests, etc.).
  • Provide technical training to sales and support teams.
  • Ensure that customer-facing teams are equipped to represent the technical benefits of the product.
  • Ensure that internal, customer-facing teams are equipped to represent the technical benefits of the product.

REQUIREMENTS

  • The candidate must demonstrate exceptional leadership and management skills.
  • Must possess a servant leader attitude and be a team player.
  • Track record of building relationships and thriving in collaborative environments.
  • Demonstrate a data-driven mindset with an ability to solve complex problems and a strong focus on continuous program improvement.
  • Must be results-oriented, creative thinker, and possess the ability to be persuasive in promoting concepts and ideas.
  • Communication:
  • Proven skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to translate technical information into relevant stories for customers
  • Heart of a teacher: willingness to train others (internal and external) as they seek to understand the product line.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business or Technical field of study
  • Min. 7+ years experience in a Technical Marketing or Sales role, preferably in the Roofing Industry
  • Sales experience is extremely desirable
  • Min. 2-year site/fieldwork in construction a plus
  • High level of communication skills
  • Must have excellent organization and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to travel as necessary (depending on sales area, could average more than 3 – 4 overnights/month)

Consideration will be given based on geography, candidate experience, and qualifications.
Annual Salary Range: 121,500-155,250
