Description:

The Safety Specialist shall be responsible for partnering with site personnel to execute safety policies and ensure compliance to all applicable Federal, State and Local/Regional regulations. By leveraging lean principles and kaizens, this individual shall lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce occupational health and safety risk in our processes to ensure a safe and healthful working environment for all site personnel. The Safety Specialist must demonstrate the ability to build trust and confidence with site personnel and influence change through providing comprehensive risk assessments and safety data analysis.

Essential Functions:

• Provide guidance and oversight to ensure compliance to all applicable Fujifilm Wako Chemicals USA Safety Related Policies
• Assist in the design and implementation of standardized Health and Safety Systems / Programs for the plant.
• Lead and facilitate site wide programs and changes as it relates to H&S
• Manages Workman's Compensation process as for Richmond and Cape Charles facili ties.
• Work with site personnel to ensure all Health and Safety incidents and potential incidents (near misses) are investigated and documented: appropriate action items are identified and assigned to prevent recurrence. Measure site performance against published requirements in safety policies. For all deficiencies, identify and track a plan for the site to implement which reduce all identified deficiencies
• Analyze safety metrics to discover methods to improve processes and reduce threats
• Determine if compliance gaps exist in area(s) of responsibility. Develops and implements corrective action plan based on analysis.
• Perform daily site safety audits to identify all non-compliance equipment and/or processes at the site. Utilize job hazard analyses process to identify and implement solutions to eliminate exposure to H&S risks and prevent injury.
• Audit recordkeeping practices to ensure compliance to federal, state and local/regional regulations.
• Seek input from Site Leadership and Site Personnel on safety program improvement opportunities. Ensure open communication on status of progress and resolution against these suggestions.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

• 3+ years of increasing responsibilities in safety and/or environmental programs in manufacturing, production, or service operations
• Experience with Workers' Comp
• Manufacturing experience, chemical environment is strongly preferred
• Degree in associated field of study preferred
• OSHA 10, OSHA 30 required - certifications desired; CSP, CSHM, ASP, GSP
• Proficient computer skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
