Pine Run Retirement Community is hiring a full-time RNAC. The hours for the position are M-F 8am-4:30pm.
POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for the development and completion of the resident assessment and process in accordance with the requirements of the federal and state regulations.

- Responsible for the development and completion of the resident assessment (MDS) in accordance with current federal and state rules, regulations and guidelines that govern the resident assessment, including Resident Assessment Protocols (RAP) analysis and care plans.
- Utilizes critical thinking skills to select the correct assessment, assessment reference date (ARD), reasons for assessment & participates in minute management process. Ensures that the care/services provided are captured accurately & appropriate payment is received by the Medicare/Medicaid systems.
- Utilizes a standard practice to manage the RAI process, including concurrent review.
- Responsible for the development of a comprehensive resident assessment and care plan.
- Ensures the timely electronic submission of all Minimum Data Sets to the state database, saves & reviews the state validation reports and ensures that appropriate follow-up action is taken
- Facilitates the involvement of appropriate health professionals needed to improve or maintain the resident’s functional abilities at the highest practicable level
- Communicates with the IDT to ensure that they are knowledgeable of the RAI process and receive the appropriate education. Provides an overview of the RNAC role to new employees that are involved in the RAI Process
- Disseminates any new or updated materials involving the RAI process & trains the other IDT members as needed
- Reviews the MDSs for accuracy, analyzes QI/QM data in conjunction with the Director or Nursing Services to identify trends on a monthly basis
- Weekly communication and review of residents with Medicare and Managed Care coverage.
- Monthly review of Medicare A in house – recognizes trends & shares information and ideas at the QRB meeting.
- Demonstrates leadership skills in managing the Clinical Reimbursement process.
- Communicates daily with both the Director of Reimbursement and the Director of Rehabilitation – minutes, default days, unassigned days and information needed for billing related to Medicare, Managed Care, Medicaid and other insurance.
- Using current Medicare criteria ensures that all admissions meet criteria and are eligible for admission under Medicare benefits.
- Maintains contact with Medicare intermediary and other insurances as needed.
- Responsible for ensuring completion of Medicare and insurance certifications and updates as required by regulations. Completes medical information forms as required.
- Reviews resident records to ensure that the skilled services are being documented according to the regulations. Identifies areas of high risk and works with appropriate services to correct deficient practices if found.
- Tracks skilled care residents to ensure that days are available and are not exhausted. Keeps all appropriate departments current on utilization of days.
- Responsible for ensuring that the MDSs are completed in a timely manner and are accurate. Provides education to departments regarding the completion of the MDS and keeps them current on any updates that occur.
- Oversees the DPW process internally that provides the facility with the Case Mix Index score for the MA residents. Participates in UMR and other audits that are conducted by fiscal intermediaries and insurances.
- Participates in the interdisciplinary team meetings and ensures that the plan of care reflects the current care provided. Performs other tasks related to resident assessment and evaluation.
- Reports to the Director of Nursing any areas of suspected deficient practice. .

C. OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Demonstrates understanding and complies with Pine Run’s EXPOSURE PREVENTION PLAN for occupational exposure to blood borne pathogens.
- Adheres to Pine Run Policies and Procedures, and Fire/Disaster Plan.
- Participates in Nursing on call rotation, one week intervals to serve as a resource to all nursing staff; assumes a charge nurse role as needed to maintain quality care.
- Provides back up to Admissions for Insurance updates as needed
- Participates in the “Manager on Duty” rotation.

F. WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Extensive resident contact
- Indoors, primarily in an office setting

G. JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must pass required health screen and testing before employment begins and yearly thereafter, as applicable to the position.
- Must have an acceptable criminal history report as defined by the Older Adults Protective Services Act and its amendments.
- Graduate of accredited nursing school.
- Current license in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania - RN
- Evidence of good physical and emotional health, grooming and professional conduct.
- Is knowledgeable about Medicare and other insurance criteria for skilled care.
- Is knowledgeable about Medical Assistance program and Case Mix.
- Is knowledgeable about the RAI/MDS process and PPS reimbursement.
- Passes a facility developed medication, drug, dosage and side-effect examination.
- Demonstrates professionalism in appearance and mannerisms.
- Possesses personal qualities such as kindness, sympathy, good judgment, integrity, loyalty and an ability to effectively relate to residents, staff and family.
- Strong decision making skills.
- Demonstrates the ability to work independently, and in a timely and organized manner.
