Responsible for performing construction and renovations projects within the hospital and outlying clinics. Responsible for performing all functions of the renovation/construction process including but not limited to: Demolition of walls, ceilings, flooring, plumbing, and HVAC fixtures. Installation or construction of walls, ceiling (including suspended grid), flooring (both VCT and sheet goods), casework (base cabinets, wall cabinets, and counters), plumbing (zone valves, fixture supplies and drains), HVAC (replacement of diffusers/grills and flexible duct), and electrical fixtures (replacement of lighting fixtures, receptacles, data ports and cabling). Will support other members of the construction department as needed in all aspects of the project. Will assist in the erection, maintenance, and monitoring of infection control (ICRA) systems.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

1. High school graduate or equivalent.

2. Graduate of trade related education from a technical school or completion of a formal trade related training program.

3. Valid driver’s license.

EXPERIENCE:

1. Three (3) years of construction experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

1. Certification of related fields, for example ICRA, asbestos awareness, OSHA training, vendor specific training.

EXPERIENCE:

1. Five (5) years of construction experience.

1. Implement and execute renovation and construction projects at the main RMH campus and outlying clinics and offices.

2. Responsible for assisting in all phases of the project from planning to completion and turn over.

3. Demolish room components in a manner to limit residual dust and debris.

4. Demolish room components in a manner to limit damage to adjoining materials and areas that are not being replaced.

5. Follow verbal and written instructions relating to demolition and construction, including field drawings and blueprints.

6. Implementation and execution of renovation and construction projects at the main RMH campus and outlying clinics and offices.

7. Erect walls, including studs, drywall, compounds, and framing for doors, windows, etc.

8. Install suspended ceiling grid. Install tile into grid, light fixtures, grills, speakers, etc.

9. Install flooring including surface preparation, gluing, laying of tile. Including base (vinyl or wood).

10. Install cabinetry including leveling, anchoring, installation of hardware, and cabinet tops.

11. Install plumbing fixtures, including sinks, faucets, drains, supply lines, and valves.

12. Install light fixtures, including ceiling and wall mounted LED and incandescent.

13. Share, demonstrate and teach others proper methods and procedures

14. Advise the project coordinator of status and needs of current and planned project work

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

1. Able to lift and carry up to 80 pounds on occasion and 50 pounds repeatedly. Overhead lifting required.

2. Must be able to push/pull loads on flat and inclined surfaces.

3. Must be physically capable to perform the functions of the construction trades and the duties and responsibilities as listed above.

4. Must have the manual dexterity necessary to perform detailed work with precision and efficiency.

5. Must have the ability to operate tools and power equipment in a safe and accurate manner.

6. Must be able to stand, walk, stand on ladders, or kneel for extended periods.

1. Able to work in an environment that is dirty, dusty, wet, hot, or cold.

2. The working environment may require the wearing of protective equipment or clothing (dust masks, respirators, gloves, boots, eye/hearing protection, etc) for extended periods.

4. Work all shifts, weekends, and holidays as necessary. Shifts may extend beyond traditional 8 hour duration.

5. Work in a hospital environment.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

1. Ability to work and cooperate with others in order to reach a common goal.

2. A desire and willingness to learn new skills and share existing skills and knowledge with co-workers.
