Position Summary
The Risk & Safety Manager is responsible for leading, managing, motivating and fostering a safety-conscious culture in the workplace to reduce accidents and injuries. The Safety Manager will design & promote the continuous improvement of facility safety and health systems to result in the reduction of accidents and illness, as well as the assurance of regulatory compliance.
This position will manage the day-to-day activities related to all workers compensation injury claims, safety and health standards established by applicable regulation, as well as policies and procedures established internally.
Essential Functions
- Develop and support systems and processes for incident management including communication and escalation of serious incidents
- Ensure a proactive approach to Incident and Risk management procedures that are consistently applied, and in compliance with all of Fashion Nova, Inc Incident Management Policies and Guidance
- In conjunction with appropriate staff, assist in identification of potential risk through risk assessment, analysis of accidents/incidents and near miss incidents, periodic safety inspections and/or audits. Make recommendations to reduce, prevent or eliminate risks identified
- Manages and provides oversight of the Company's workers compensation program, including all policies and claims. Interacts with employees, insurance adjusters, legal counsel, and coordinates with Human Resources staff as required
- Tracks and interprets the experience modification ratings including tracking exposures and preventing similar exposures
- Tracks and manages claims including speedy return to work, monitoring dollars placed into reserves
- Manage department budgets accurately and effectively
- Assist in the negotiation of property and casualty insurance negotiations; make sound recommendations for selection of insurance brokers and carriers
- Work with brokers, insurers, and service providers, on the design, implementation, and monitoring of safety and claims administration programs
- Monitor and review periodic claims and reports and provide trend analysis for all lines of insurance coverage
- Monitor insurance program budgets and ensure that programs are cost-effective, and funds are managed prudently
- Be available and/or work weekend and night shifts as dictated by business need
- Oversee Behavior Based / Observation Safety Programs
- Review Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) as needed.
- Follow Fall Protection Program (FPP), inspect all fall protection equipment and maintain inspection records
- Assist in administering and maintaining compliance programs such as Lock out tag out (LOTO), Hazard Communication, Evacuation Action Plan (EAP), Hot Work, Respiratory, Bloodborne Pathogens (BBP), etc.
- Work in conjunction with Facilities to ensure equipment is functioning properly and ensure defective equipment is put out of service
Education & Experience Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, psychology, or similar fields of study
- Professional designation of Associate of Risk Management (ARM) or similar certification preferred
- 5 years of management experience is preferred
- A minimum of 7-10 years of related work experience, preferably in an E-Commerce distribution center or warehouse environment
- Bilingual preferred but not required
Knowledge & Skill Requirements
- Ability to travel to multiple locations within Los Angeles
- Knowledge of risk management program development
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to conduct multi-site safety inspections
- Ability to communicate effectively through presentation skills and strategies
- Adept at using all Google and Microsoft office products
- Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety legislation and regulations
- Knowledge of National Fire Protection Association hazard ratings (NFPA) , Fire Pumps, and Fire systems
- Capable of multitasking and working to demanding deadlines
- Proficient in the English language (Read, write, and speak) Spanish is a plus
- Professional, punctual, and possess strong communications skills
- Willing to work overtime and special events when necessary

Pay: $85,000.00 - $115,000.00 per year
