Summary

We’re looking for a experienced Retirement Plan Distributions Associate to work for our mission-driven, not-for-profit “Best Place to Work” recognized organization. As a member of the Retirement Plan Distribution department, you will play a critical role in our success at NRECA. Apply if you have 1-year of pension plan administration or distribution processing combined with telephone customer service experience.

Work Schedule:

  • Hybrid work arrangement (2 days in the office; 3 days at home) but may work in the office more often if preferred.
  • Remote work is only available to candidates who don't live close enough to commute to a NRECA office. (Arlington, VA or Lincoln, NE).

What does a great NRECA Retirement Plan Distribution Associate do?
You will perform daily distribution and loan transactions and periodic activities of varying complexity and will take a variety of telephone calls from the membership. You will meet call volume standards while maintaining the highest standards of quality service to internal staff and the membership. Specifically, you will be responsible for and can look forward to serving in the following capacities in your career as Retirement Plan Distribution Associate:

  • Provides phone and e-mail support to members, benefits administrators, and other industry representatives requesting information, assistance and/or problem resolution across the NRECA defined contribution and defined benefit pension plans distribution administration.
  • Coordinates with internal business partners and cooperative benefits administrators on data and calculation issues that impact the facilitation of benefit payments.
  • Mails and tracks participant notices and letters to ensure compliance with NRECA and qualified plan requirements, ensuring appropriate document retention.
  • Performs detail review of incoming loan and benefit payment requests, and supporting outstanding check reconciliation/resolution activities.
  • Maintains proficiency in all Retirement Plan Distribution processes in order to answer phone calls and process work assigned as determined by workload fluctuations.
  • Attends comprehensive training sessions to gain additional product knowledge of new or improved services for members and employees.
  • Responds to member requests for benefits information. Logs and documents communications (calls/emails/faxes) and processing work into logging/workflow systems and follows-up professionally, maintaining accountability through to resolution. Maintains a broad working knowledge of pension plan policies, practices, procedures, and business applications.

Qualifications
Education Requirements

  • Associate degree in Business Administration/Finance/Accounting, preferred or has an additional 1-year of pension plan administration or pension distribution work.

Experience & Certification Requirements

  • One year experience in a pension plan administration work environment with exposure to pension distributions, preferred or an Associate degree in Business Administration, Finance, or Accounting with 6 mos. of pension plan administration experience with exposure to distributions, preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Requirements (all demonstrated by prior work experience)

  • Knowledge of defined contribution and defined pension plan administration.
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations (addition, subtraction, division, multiplication, percentages) for distribution calculations.
  • Ability to learn new systems and processes.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with a diverse membership and employees.
  • Ability to apply good judgment related to escalating issues and requesting assistance.
  • Ability to answer phones, perform and work on multiple tasks and can cope with changing conditions/policies/procedures while staying productive and maintaining a high level of accuracy.
  • Ability to listen and interpret the customer’s needs to de-escalate difficult customer calls, while at the same time researching the issue and applying broad business and technical knowledge to meet the customer’s satisfaction.
  • Ability to define issues, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to effectively interact with others and work in a team environment.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, Power Point) in the day-to-day essential tasks.
  • Must be available to work overtime hours which may include Saturday morning during the busy season, October – March.

Essential Physical Requirements

  • The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures, viewing a computer screen and extensive reading.
  • The job is light duty work and is sedentary and doesn’t require the use of arm and/or leg exertion greater than that for sedentary work.
