POSITION SUMMARY
The Respiratory Therapist is responsible for the set-up and education on the safe use of respiratory equipment. This includes delivery and instruction to the patient on the use of home respiratory equipment, troubleshooting, in person or via telephone, and advise the patient of warning signs as to when to call the physician.
EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION
Must be a licensed Respiratory Therapist (RT). 1-2 years’ experience in respiratory care, either in acute or home setting. Must be able to demonstrate knowledge of the respiratory care field and ability to act as a resource for peers and non-clinical staff. Organization and the ability to handle multiple tasks at one time are very important for a successful candidate. Excellent communication skills, both written and oral are also required. Must have a valid, state-issued driver’s license with a good driving record. May be required to obtain additional training or licenses or certifications, depending upon job assignments. Position requires acceptable drug screen and background investigation; additional routine or random screening may be performed as deemed necessary by the company.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Deliver and instruct patient on use of home medical respiratory equipment, in person or via telephone, and advise client of warning signs as to when to call physician
- Provide respiratory skills to patients in the field as directed by physician orders
- Provide exceptional care to patients and clients
- Work well with client family members to ensure comfort and respect for the client’s illness
- Demonstrate a professional attitude at all times, being polite and respectful in interactions with employees, patients/customers, referral sources, and vendors. Includes maintaining a professional appearance with clothing, grooming and personal hygiene
- Maintain current knowledge of and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures; respond to complaints and incidents promptly and report through proper channels in a timely fashion
- Manage relationships with employees, vendors, physicians, and other referral sources.
- Carries phone for after-hours emergency on-call services, scheduled for a one-week call period, approximately one week a month
- Responsible to perform other duties as assigned by management'
