  • POSITION SUMMARY
    • Provides a wide range of respiratory care services to patients, ranging from neonates to geriatric age groups, as directed by physician s orders in all settings. This individual works independently as a licensed clinician.
  • KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Administers aerosolized medication, chest physiotherapy, airway clearance techniques,and hyperinflation therapy upon physician orders/protocols.
    • Administers oxygen and participates in patient care decisions regarding oxygen administration, utilizing respiratory assessment skills and lab results. Draws, analyzes and interprets arterial blood gases.
    • Participates in patient education and evaluation. Assesses patient s vital signs, breath sounds, patient history, etc.
    • Participates as a member of the Trauma/Code 9, Critical Assessment and Critical Care Transport Teams.
    • Performs CPR and airway management
    • Consults patients at physician s and nurse s request to expedite appropriate respiratory care.
    • Assists physician with fiberoptic bronchoscopy.
    • Documents patient involvement in medical record.
    • Initiates and changes invasive and noninvasive mechanical ventilation according to protocol in physician s absence. Changes ventilator setting according to protocol and/or physician order.
    • Conducts apnea tests for determination of brain death.
    • Maintains, assembles, troubleshoots, disinfects, prepares for sterilization and documents for repair all respiratory care devices.
  • REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
    • Maintains knowledge of recent advances in medical principles of respiratory therapy equipment, procedures and drugs.
    • Demonstrates knowledge of specialized examinations and tests associated with respiratory therapy and understand the reasons for the individual patient s needs and respiratory therapy plan.
    • Good interpersonal skills.
    • Excellent communication skills both oral and written.
    • Trained and competent to perform all necessary procedures on a population of Neonatal, Newborn, Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult and Geriatric patients.
  • EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/LICENSURE
    • Education: Minimum of an Associates Degree and passed CRT or RRT exam.
    • Experience: One (1) year clinical experience required. Three (3) to five (5) years of critical care experience preferred.
    • Certification/Licensure: State of NH Respiratory Care Practitioner license required at date of hire. BLS certification required at date of hire. Must challenge and obtain RRT credential within six months of hire. All NICU RCPs must obtain the RRT-NPS exam within one year of hire. Neonatal Resuscitation Program Certification to be obtains prior to NICU orientation. ACLS and PALS required within 6 months of hire.

  • OTHER REQUIREMENTS
    • Schedule: Requirements to work weekdays,weekends or variable shifts. Required to be on call, work overtime and work holidays.
    • Other: Schedule hours can be flexible. Currently listed as 615am-645pm but inquire if these hours do not suit you.
