Position Summary:

Hillwood Energy is seeking a Reservoir Engineer to join its dynamic team working on acquisition and divestitures (A&D) and reserve reporting for North American assets. The successful candidate will be responsible for A&D evaluation that will include decline curve analysis (DCA), discounted cash flow (DCF) analysis, budget tracking and investment results tracking. The selected individual will be responsible for reserve reporting, database management integrity and reserve reconciliations. The position requires a strong focus on reservoir engineering, quantitative analysis and modeling matched with practical business application. Additionally, there is significant opportunity for exposure to senior management in this role.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform decline curve analysis for potential acquisitions and existing assets
  • Conduct technical evaluation of oil & gas assets using industry standard reservoir engineering and discounted cash flow analysis software, such as PHDWin or ARIES
  • Assist in developing technical assumptions (EURs, well count, well spacing, well timing) used for underwriting
  • Prepare internal reserve reports and other presentation materials quarterly or as needed for company executives
  • Maintain databases of existing production wells with up-to-date production forecasts, commodity prices and operational and commercial assumptions
  • Monitor production wells and conduct reservoir surveillance to make recommendations for maximizing production and value

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • High aptitude for reservoir engineering, DCA and DCF
  • High level of proficiency in PHDWin and Microsoft Excel preferred
  • High level of proficiency for building PowerPoint presentations for company executives
  • Medium level of proficiency in Spotfire
  • Desire to learn and collaborate in a small team; willingness to help outside discipline as needed
  • Ability to work effectively with engineering team, geologists and land personnel
  • Ability to effectively manage time, priorities and objectives
  • Strong written, verbal and presentation skills
  • Organized and detail oriented
  • Strong ability to be flexible and multi-task

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Petroleum Engineering, required
  • Minimum 1-5 years A&D or other reservoir engineering experience
  • Experience in unconventional reservoirs, including the Permian Basin, Eagle Ford and Haynesville
  • Knowledge of IHS or Enverus
