The following position is to join our Corporate or Research Center Team:

Research Engineer/Scientist, Integrated Electric Systems

Position Summary:

The Integrated Electric Systems team at Raytheon Technologies Research Center invites individuals with high voltage, high power electric systems, power electronics and electromagnetics expertise with strong hardware prototyping skills to apply for an open position. We are seeking a Senior Research Engineer to join our cohesive team of engineers and technicians who are focused on developing innovative technologies and solving tough problems for aerospace and defense applications. The successful candidate will collaborate within multidisciplinary teams in areas such as hybrid electric propulsion systems, Radio Frequency (RF) power systems, power distribution, controls, motors and drives.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Experience in high power electrical systems and subcomponents, power distribution, controls, electric machines and drives.
  • Understanding of hardware in the loop simulations.
  • Experience with electric and hybrid electric propulsion systems, batteries, electrical generators, system integration and control.
  • Experience in radio Frequency power systems, DC/DC converters, point of load converters.
  • Expert knowledge of power electronics, relevant controls, electromagnetic for electrical machines, hardware design and prototyping.
  • Experience in the application of analytical skills to the development of new technology.
  • Record of technical contributions including patents and publications..
  • US Persons only.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Excellent communication skills – written and presentation.
  • Demonstrated ability to participate in multi-disciplinary teams and to deliver to challenging technical objectives through creative problem solving and innovative thinking preferred.

Location: East Hartford, CT

Education:

  • Ph.D. graduates will be considered.
  • M.S. candidates must have 7+ years of experience in a relevant work environment.
  • The candidate should have an M.S. in electrical engineering, or closely related engineering field, while a Ph.D. is strongly preferred.

Typically requires:

  • A University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience, or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years' experience.

Engineering/Other Technical Positions:

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.
