About the Role:

Provide support to all aspects of engineering research and development. Your job is to be hands-on in research and development: prototyping, building, and testing a variety of new and improved products for the agriculture markets that Precision Planting serves.


What would I be doing?

  • Provide support to engineering in prototyping, building, and testing prototypes
  • Your work may range widely as examples:
    • Fabricating prototypes: welding, milling, lathe work, 3D printing, plasma cutting, brake press
    • Driving tractors for testing
    • Rebuilding planters
    • Planting, maintaining, harvesting test plots
    • Running bench tests
    • Building demonstration and endurance stands
    • Collecting test data
  • Help coordinate research and development projects with other technicians and support staff
  • Implement the systems and protocols needed for managing a clean or organized shop work space
  • Responsible for ordering and organizing of shop tooling, supplies, and materials
  • Maintain shop equipment through routine maintenance program


What must I have?

  • High school education required
  • Excellent ability to seek practical solutions in prototyping and testing
  • High ownership and initiative
  • Willingness to learn and grow
  • Skills and experience in fabrication, welding, machining, CNC milling, and assembling complex prototypes with minimal direction
  • Ability to effectively build relationships with your peers and leadership
  • Good understanding of machine principles and mechanical systems
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Computer skills: Microsoft Office Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • Agriculture background is preferred but not required
