Job description
OFS is seeking a Research Associate/Scientist to support our federal government client that manages a broad portfolio of basic and clinical research to treat human communication disorders caused by hearing, balance, taste, smell, voice, speech, and language.

Job Description:
  • Independently evaluates, selects, and applies standardized scientific procedures and techniques.
  • Provides direction to assure completion of technical tasks and projects.
  • Create and conduct experiments.
  • Process and analyze results and data.
  • Communicate results to the scientific community via published papers.
  • Collaborate with industry/academia to apply the results of research and develop new techniques, products, or practices.
  • Present ongoing work and findings to colleagues at academic conferences, and summarize the nature of the research, methodology and results.
  • Monitors the work of junior staff to ensure that correct procedures are followed.
  • teach, demonstrate, train students or junior staff and train and supervise other members of staff.
  • Devise or help to draw up new research proposals.
  • Carry out peer reviews of written publications and presentations to validate theories and inform research.
  • Attend academic conferences across the world and regularly read industry journals.
Job Qualifications:
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and written.
  • Must be highly organized, analytical, accurate and detail oriented.
  • Must have some knowledge of standard reference/information sources and library skills.
  • Must be able to work under pressure to meet deadlines; must be able to analyze and prioritize assignments.
  • Also, must judge the amount of time to spend for the expected outcome, according to the importance of a project and the type of information needed.
  • Must be able to work independently, as well as with a team.
  • The ability to maintain confidential information in an appropriate manner is essential, as is an ability to use judgment in the wording and inclusion of pertinent and sensitive information.
  • Master's degree or higher in an appropriate field.
  • Two to four years’ experience in a related area or equivalent. May be entry level PhD or equivalent experience related to area of specialization.
