Position Title: Research Assistant
Job Class: Non-Exempt/Hourly $24-25.96 hour DOE

Summary:
Are you interested in helping to improve the healthcare of our United States Veterans through meaningful work in a collaborative environment? The Department of Veterans Affairs Hematology/Oncology Research Program, is hiring a full-time Research Assistant who has experience with and enjoys supporting research clinical trials.
This position will require an individual who understands the principles of scientific investigation and clinical trials, is capable of in-depth understanding of the study protocol and is able to make complex decisions independently. The candidate must possess strong scientific, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
We have one position available in Seattle, WA.
The Research Assistant will provide operational support under the direction of the Hematology/Oncology Clinical Trials Lead Clinical Research Coordinator.
Key duties:
- Provide daily operational support
- Ensure compliance with study protocol, including informed consent, safety, and data security requirements
- Supporting Center research quality control and safety efforts through proper documentation tracking and maintenance
- Assisting with the development of study materials, IRB and R&D documentation and preparing for audits
- Support recruitment, screening, enrollment, consent, and follow-up of clinical trial participants according to study protocols, including: reviewing medical charts, conducting study visits, administering questionnaires, timely and accurate data entry, preparing participant mailings, tracking study activities
- Biospecimen collection and shipment
- Setting up meetings, taking meeting notes, data entry, data quality control, coordinate research mailings, and other research support duties
- Assist with development and maintenance of databases and files
Qualifications:
- BA/BS or higher degree in a scientific- or health-related field required
- 1-4 years of work experience in clinical or health services research required
- If BA/BS, 1-4 years of research-related experience required
- If higher degree, 1-2 years of research-related experience preferred
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate with a diverse group of researchers and staff
- Experience with customer service, particularly by telephone and e-mail
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Solid problem-solving and critical thinking skills
- Excellent time management skills
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and timelines
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook required
- Experience with Microsoft Access, Microsoft SharePoint, and Microsoft Teams preferred
- Experience with using electronic medical record systems
- Knowledge of research compliance regulations
- Phlebotomy experience preferred
