Deliver department services on an as-needed and flexible basis and in a specifically assigned area.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Provide coverage on an as-needed basis for Mesa County Criminal Justice Services Department and the different residential and community based programs. Specific areas Relief Staff may be assigned to work include but are not limited to:

• 
  Residential Community Corrections, and/or

• Community Based Programs such as Pretrial Services, Deferred Judgement, Electronic Monitoring, Non-Residential community corrections clients, etc.

• Duties for Relief Staff may include, but are not limited to:

• Answering telephones and directing calls;

• Computer data entry that includes checking clients in and out of various programs;

• Provide client supervision within a residential facility. May conduct routine searches consistent with department policy including random client body searches; room and facility searches; building and ground security checks; supervision and collection of urine specimens and breathalyzers; completion of residential counts; and the monitoring and verification of client activities at home, work and in the community.

• Complete client interviews and program intakes.

• Initiate and maintain case records and statistical data including documentation of service delivery and client activity.

• Maintain current, accurate and chronological case notes, incident reports and other required documentation.

• Use and maintain Mesa County property in a safe and professional manner.

• Oral and written communications must be clear and effective.

• Performs other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

Education and Experience:

High School Diploma or equivalent.

Any combination of education, training and experience which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities required for the job.

Bilingual skills (English/Spanish) (desired)

Valid Colorado Driver’s License

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

This position requires standing, stooping, sitting, bending, twisting, and lifting up to 60 pounds.

Occasional exposure of work time to hazardous situations which involve physically violent persons, interviewing mentally or emotionally disturbed persons or bodily injury from biohazards, infections, or blood-borne pathogens.

Flexible scheduling that may include irregular hours and shifts including days, swings, graveyard shift , weekends and holidays based on the applicant’s availability.
