Inova's Maternal Fetal Medicine is seeking a full-time, Outpatient Registered Nurse.

Schedule: Monday through Friday, days.

The Maternal Fetal Medicine Clinic is located at the Inova Center for Personalized Health - 8100 Innovation Park Drive, Fairfax, Virginia. 22031.

Our maternal-fetal medicine specialists and OB-GYNs work together to care for patients with complex pregnancies. In most cases, pregnant women continue to see their OB-GYN, while an MFM subspecialist provides recommendations, advice and support throughout the pregnancy. Multiple specialists collaborate, working toward a healthy delivery in complex cases, such as a mother or baby with a heart condition.

We care for a range of high-risk pregnancies, including:

• Hypertensive disorders
• Preterm labor
• Endocrine disorders and diabetes
• Liver disorders
• Twins, triplets, and higher-order multiples
• Placental abnormalities
• Other rare pregnancy complications

The RN Outpatient with Maternal Fetal Medicine:

• Will work hands on with patients
• Triage patients and room patients
• Partner with the physician
• Phone triage
• Partner with the Medical Assistants and LPNs
  

The Inova Registered Nurse Outpatient:

• Clinical Practice & Case Management- Provides safe therapeutic care in a holistic and systematic way, in a physician practice or other outpatient setting. Incorporates differences into the provision of care. Integrates knowledge, skills, and experiences to meet the needs of patients and families, to include patient and family education.
• Teamwork- Communicates effectively and works cooperatively with others. Has respect for and understanding of other clinical disciplines. Uses an integrated approach toward patient outcomes.
• Quality/Best Practice- Utilizes standards, guidelines, and pathways for care delivery. Incorporates data and information to improve care and enhance outcomes.
• Professional Development- Ensures improvements in practice settings by assuming responsibility for self-development in lifelong learning. Provides direction and guidance to others regarding practice. Serves as a resource, preceptor, and mentor. Demonstrates leadership skills in decision making and problem solving.

Requirements:

• Less than six months of Registered Nurse clinical experience. Previous experience in Labor and Delivery or High Risk Perinatal is strongly preferred.
  
• Education: BSN or MSN or

If Associates Degree RN-Within 6 months of start date, meet with nurse leader:

• Identify which Accredited School the employee plans to attend
• Submit a review of transcript from the school indicating the required pre-requisites and timeline for taking the courses
• Provide a written plan with anticipated BSN completion date.

Complete BSN within 24 months of start date

• BLS for Healthcare Provider Certification from the American Heart Association required
• First Aid certification required
• RN licensed, or eligible to practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a RN
• Proficient in English, strong verbal and written communication skills. Exceptional interpersonal skill and the ability to display a caring demeanor towards others. Proficient computer skills required.
